Nigel Benn challenged Steve Collins for the WBO super middleweight title. With the benefit of hindsight, we know what happened in their second fight, so what do you think really happened this time?

For those who want to watch the fight online, here's a link to my Daily Motion channel:

Benn just worn down by this point IMO. Not taking anything away from Collins who is a warrior

He'd had enough. Benn was a monster and always tried his hardest to win a fight.
By the time he met Collins, he was shot.

Thanks for posting this, I'd forgotten about the Benn and Collins fights. I think Benn was already finished when he went down, he may have tweaked an ankle some and my guess is he was wanting to buy some time with an injury but when the fight continued he knew he was done. Collins was a rough guy who in my opinion was fortunate to have a depleted version of Benn in front of him

I thought Benn was beyond finished.
The Collins fights followed his retirement and clear loss to Sugarboy Malinga…he was already done.

Benn one of my favourite fighters, maybe even my number one.

He was pretty much done by the time he fought Collins. He probably did injure his ankle and I think he knew he didnt have enough left to win. Collins was the type of fighter who never stopped rumbling forward and throwing shots, one of the toughest fighters I think Ive seen.
Think Benn knew the writing was on the wall and he was either getting KO/TKO'd very soon. Probably didnt want to go out like that and his corner would have probably stepped in if he was just getting pounded round after round

Did Collins have Benn and Eubank's number or did he just meet them at the right time?
