At least 50 years ago I watched Howard Cossell calling a fight and at one point he literally screamed "OH What an exchange!!" It stuck with me the rest of my life. That moment really captured the thrill and savagery of boxing. Wish I remembered who was fighting.

Steve Ellis’ call for the first Ali-Liston fight is memorable and iconic imo - with many quotable lines - none of which I’ll quote now - because y’all know them.

 

Usually when I watch Ali-Foreman, it’s Colonel Bob Sheridan doing the commentary.

There’s another broadcaster, I think David Frost, whose commentary I love when Ali stops Foreman.

“Muhammad Ali has done it! The great man has done it!”

I think it’s him who also says “it’s an incredible scene, the place is going wild! Muhammad Ali has won! Muhammad Ali has won!”

 

Probably because Tyson was involved, most people remember "No matter what happens, we are looking at a sports legend"
