Made his millions and is happy with life. He also has had some injuries he had to deal with. His last surgery was 3 months back. By the time he comes back, he will be near his mid 30s and at least 5 years removed from the AJ upset. Ruiz is done at the world level and him returning would be a waste of time.
It really is a shame as Ruiz could be a major player in the division. But he really is criminally inactive. He only fought twice in over four years and however you look at it, it can't always be the fault of the other team if your proposed fights keep falling through.
Because he is an enourmus fool - he spends money on fancy cars, eats and waiste the most valuable years in his life. I just love him (don't get me wrong!) as a boxer and the fact that a short, fat man is able to beat out big muscular men, hahaha. He should have stayed active, kept in shape, and accepted low value fights in order to maintain his marketability. His money well invested en large cooperations and fonds + maybe a couple of thrust fonds, and him and his family would have been secured for generations due to the yield from the portefolio. (Sorry, my bad spelling). I miss him as a boxer and with his style and physique he may be shot at this moment. (Short heavyweights burn out quickly and isn't Ruíz 35 years now?). Andy is a big, big fool. But, as said, love him as a fighter, had he been my son I would have shouted at him.
Because he is Lazy… & REALLY FAT. This content is protected Plus it doesn’t help he is on the PBC those guys are typically NOT fighting even less now since the SHOTIME dropping them debacle.
Obviously We all know it's extremely difficult to be a world champion and it's extremely difficult to be a top contender as well. It's a difficult life. Andy Ruiz has some of the fastest hands in the division and has reasonably good power. He can take a good punch-seems fairly durable. But it is frustrating to watch somebody in their biggest fight just let it slip away. Now I can't be sure that this happened but it's my perception and it's my own opinion. And in my opinion Andy did this twice. I thought the fight with Joseph Parker was extremely winnable for him (In fact I think Joseph Parker has been guilty of this same thing in the past, getting into cruising mode and being okay with losing). Again I have no proof of this but it's my own perception. I think Andy Ruiz gave away the Parker fight for the most part and I think he gave away the second fight with Joshua. You are the defending unified heavyweight champion of the world and that's the fight you put out there? Don't you want to keep your titles? As Cus said "Don't you want to be great?" I don't know but it's very frustrating when you see a fighter who can do much more be satisfied with second gear and second place.
Ruiz got the big pay days fighting Joshua and seems to expect the same millions for all of his future fights even without holding a title. Looks like he’s been asking for too much money, outpricing himself when he isn’t the one who draws in the money. Looked like he could have fought Wilder but was again asking for too much money and like someone said above is holding out for Saudi money. Wouldn’t surprise me if he fights someone like Chisora in Saudi Arabia, for more money than they both deserve. Chisora has been sniffing around for that money also.
He's either waiting to build up a bit more, weight wise, and really storm the division . Or hes in a happy and contented place and enjoying the fruits of his earlier labours .. Which ever it is, he's a happy Andy.
