He looked pretty good. Not sure how his style will help him though. These judges seem to be blind, and you have to rattle off 3 unanswered combinations to score a solitary point.
yes i believe thats the reason. the people in charge of the ams are not the same ones as the pros. also i think this isnt becos of the olympics, its becos of the boxing rule, if you turn pro then you cant return to the amatuers.
Theres no way you could fight with smaller gloves, no headgear, professional rules and be expected to fight 5 times in 2 weeks. People would get absolutely battered, especially in the higher weight classes.
the promoters would never allow it and the boxers would not go for it either, the pro tennis and basketball players are not getting paid to be there. I like the look of degale. hopefully he can get a medal, but even if he doesnt he has a style that i like, fights like a pro already, i think he will make a decent career as a pro. the fight can be viewed on the bbc website if anyone is intrested.
Watched his fight today He looked OK for a round or two - then went really flat Nothing to fear, not saying it will be easy but Estrada didn't look anything special...
He is a bit hit and miss, but he beat Daniel Jacobs to get there and Jacobs looks **** hot in his first few pro fights.
wasn't very impressed by his performance today. but then again i wasn't impressed by degale especially in the first round. i think the next round could go either way. unfortunately for degale, even if he wins he'll have to fight the winner of korobov and artayev who looked two of the best boxers in the first stage
I agree, I thought Hikal had some quite tasty hooks on him and should've had 3 or 4 more points...but in the end, Degale was able to do enough of a matador job on him to deserve the win. So long as he's sharp and picks up his work a bit more, not to mention stops retreating backwards with his left down, I think he can pick apart Estrada. But it's Korobov in the quarters that's the big problem, he's the red-hot favourite for the gold in that division.
