Greatest chin performance by a boxer?

What fight is the best performance by a fighter, chin-wise?
For me. Lamotta vs Robinson VI is my number one. Imo.

 

That & Foreman-Chuvalo were the first two to spring to my mind.

 

I know he wasn't the hardest puncher, but Taylor/Cahvez is right up there, Taylor hit Chavez with over 400 punches and it don't even dent him, all the while Chavez virtulally ended Taylor's career.

 

Hard to top Ollie McCall eating every flush shot Lewis could throw at him and going nowhere.

 

What about Shannon Briggs against Vitali Klitschko? Briggs sacrificed his entire vocabulary save for three words.

 

But Vitali wasn't great puncher. He had good power but far from elite. Chris Byrd said Wlad hit literally 3 times harder than Vitali and by the impact of their punches in Byrd you can say he was right

 

One of Vitali Klitschko's arms was literally useless against Byrd and needed reconstruction. That tends to "lessen" your power. You could just as easily say "ask Corrie Sanders and Ross Puritty who hit harder" too.

 

I'm always amazed, when I rewatch it, how many flush, hard punches Joe Frazier took to the face and head against Ali in their first fight.

And Ali was hitting him hard. And Ali could punch when he planted and fired. And Frazier's head was swollen and both eyes shut tight a couple hours later.

Joe Frazier really never fully recovered from that beating Ali dished out. He ate flush, powerful shots for the better part of an hour. Just ate them and fired back.

And Frazier still won fair and square.

 

1. Vitali said he injured his left shoulder in round 3. He had fully healthy 2 hands for 2+ rounds

2. His right hand was MUCH better than his left hook, and it wasn't injured. Vitali landed right hand to none effect on Byrd's chin

Phil Jackson and Kevin Johnson also said Wlad hir levels harder than Vitali. Jackson fought Wlad and sparred Vitali, and Johnson fought Vitali and sparred Wlad.

Sanders comparison is useless, because Wlad barely hit him with anything and Vitali hit him with everything and kitchen sink

Everything Vitali did in the ring was based off his left hand. Everything. His left against Byrd was all but useless. Same with Holyfield. Byrd didn't think he was a big puncher, either. But Tyson said Evander hit harder than anyone he faced.

Judging the power of a guy with a torn rotator cuff is pointless.

Saying Vitali Klitschko wasn't a great puncher is ridiculous. He was 38 years old the "second" time anyone went the distance with him, for God's sake.

How many longtime heavyweight champions in history were 38 years old and 40+ fights into their career the "second" time they went the distance?

Good pick, with you all the way about the amount of flush punches landed on Frazier's face by a big solid heavyweight like Ali, to wit, I believe the fight was a lot closer than history has portrayed it, in fact there are times when after watching the fight, I can make a case for Ali being the victor, as I recall the fight was one of the first to have a computer to tally up the punches landed, and Ali had nearly double the amount, I know that it doesn't always work like that, 3 light shots , against 1 hard, who wins, I get that, but as you have said Ali's punches were very hard indeed, picture Joes face at the finish, so I know I am tilting at windmills, but I feel Ali just might have won, tin hat at the ready, drawbridge up.
