I'm sorry, but Oscar would finally get stopped in this one. Hearns had speed and murderous power. Mind you, this would be a 15 rounder and Oscar would be looking for the building exit by the 13th round.
We will never know that's what suck's.... (I say they put Tommy on Fight Night then we can settle it) At least give me some credit for going against the grain...lol (Tommy is one of my all-time fav's, I think maybe ODLH can pull a Leonard)
Dude, what the hell? Quartey was superior in every way to Clottey. This content is protected I see no way in hell De La Hoya wins unless you're counting on him winging a left hook from hell and KO'ing Hearns. There is NO WAY he outboxes him. Duran would handle Quartey on the inside, and his head movement and activity(as well as his overhand counter right) would offset Quartey's jab. It'd be a wide UD in Duran's favor, if not a stoppage. For an Hispanic person you sure don't give Duran much credit.
Good idea with fightnight. I understand about going against the grain, but did I mentioni that Tommy is a murderous puncher? Sugar had way different kind of speed and movement that I believe Oscar could not generate. He would have gotten broken down and KO'ed for the first time.
Problem is that I believe Pea beat him and Trinidad is no Tommy. Tommy had very quick hands and would stalk you and finally execute. I really thought he was going to beat Sugar. That was one of the greatest fights ever at WW.
He'd have stopped or beaten everyone you had him up against by wide UD. A fighter like Clottey with earmuffs and a low workrate would allow Duran to get on the inside easily, and a tight guard doesn't mean you can hang with Duran on the inside. Duran has workrate, body punching, craftiness, and versatility on his side. You're confusing the Duran of the second Leonard fight to any other version of Duran. I suggest watching a lot more footage of him. For one, Trinidad is nowhere near the composite puncher Hearns is. His power is close, but his overall ability to land and time punches is not even in the same class. Nor is his overall boxing ability. Hearns and Pea are not in the slightest bit comparable boxing-wise. Pea was past his prime and relied on quickness, slickness, and ring craft, Hearns relied on height, reach, power, and punching accuracy. The fights are not even comparable to how they would play out, that is about as inept a comparison as I've ever heard if I'm being honest. And Oscar arguably lost to Pea anyway. You wouldn't be worried about Hearns despite the fact that he holds every concievable advantage aside from maybe chin? If that fight was able to be determined somehow, let's just say I wouldn't have a second's hesitation about betting the house.
Haglar vs Williams :rofl :nut atsch Somebody must really hate Paul, or else want Marvin in prison for manslaughteratsch
Once again you prove why you are by far the single "Hardest Headed" poster on ESB.... Remember, It's OK if someone think's a lil' different than you. Both Clottey and Quartey have tremendous will and ability to take punishment. They have great condition and can bang with anyone. I think Duran might find that familiar. (Kirkland Laing) I would not underestimate them, like he did to Liang. I'd put Trinidad's WW power on par with Hearns anyday of the week. (Felix's "left hook" can hold it's own against The Hearns "Straight Right") As far as Pea, I was making a comment saying how De La Hoya might fight against a defensive fighter, Not comparing Pea & Hearns as defensive types..lol, That's like oil & water (Besides the fact that Hearns is a giant & Pea is a midget... One is a flatfooted southpaw with no power and bad footwork. The other is a "Classic" Boxer/Puncher with a tremendous counter.) When I think of defense, I think of Whitaker & who is the best defensive fighter Oscar has faced? He was just the first name that came into my head + Pernell does have an L next to his name via De La Hoya. That is a FACT, the only thing that can be proven in this thread. Everything else is opinion & hypothetical. Besides, When does the act always follow the script?
