Yeah, from absolutely ****ing massive full power shots that he took flush due to his poor defence.....
Look what he did to Wilder who took bombs of Ortiz who is a big puncher. Fury is 6’9 and although he’s not the biggest puncher he’s a massive dude and can land effective punches. Ngannou took them like they were nothing which was very impressive.
He certainly doesn't have a granite jaw. The first knockdown was a simple straight right and it sent him flying onto his ass. He doesn't know how to box, is a rank and file amateur who never deserved to be in the ring with a true top level heavyweight. But thank Fury for that, for giving Ngannou a false impression of his talents as a boxer.
Ngannou was given a false sense of his talent as a HW boxer by Furys poor performance. Ngannou does not have a granite jaw and is in fact a rank and file amateur. Joshua almost killed him.
Joshua is a big puncher. He can sleep just about anyone with a good shot on the chin. Fury isn’t a big puncher and his technique was also sloppy against Ngannou. Had he came there in shape instead of all pot bellied, his punches would’ve had more effectiveness. This makes Usyk all the more impressive considering he survived a number of punches from Joshua and never dropped.
It’s worth noting that boxers ride punches and don’t take to many flush like Ngannou did, they are constantly moving stepping off moving their feet and head to evade. Ngannou just absolutely ate a power shot that had the momentum and trajectory that went straight through him Joshua was still on the downward swing as he was crumpling, Joshua wouldn’t have telegraphed a punch like that against a boxer. That was why it was so devastating
When those boxers will get permanent random drug testing like Ngannou had in the UFC with USADA and still show a good chin, i'll be impressed. I believe he was tested by USADA too against Joshua since he has a contract with PFL right now. Also, Vitali got an extremely brutal KO in kickboxing (which is closer to MMA than boxing).
I was thinking, he is a muscle bound, 272 lbs man with a neck and head shaped like a cinder block, I'd have to assume AJ would have killed an average sized man with that punch.
AJ threw a picture perfect right down the pike. Twist the wrist at the end and got the full extension. Ngannou took it on the chin. Any heavyweight would struggle to take that punch. So as of now, no his chin isn’t in the glass category. Yet.
But Fury did try on several elbows - you wouldn’t do that if contriving to carry your opponent. The elbows, imo, were a clear sign of Fury’s frustration and desperation during the fight.
The fact the ref didn't take a point from this almost makes me feel like the ref and judges were in the bag for Fury This content is protected Maybe the mistake was Ngannou playing it off and not reacting like 99% of boxers would have to that.
