I’ve wondered about this one a few times over the years myself. Tucker looked pretty fit in the 80’s. He had the size, conditioning, chin and boxing skills to give Bowe some problems. I guess it just depends on HOW he goes about fighting him. If he boxes well and fights like he wants to win then I can see him taking a decision. If he goes on the defensive then he won’t
Bowe because of the pressure he’d apply inside mixed with a long game. Tucker was pretty decent on his best days. That’s a good ways short of what Bowe could do during his short but eye-catching pomp.
Tony Tucker was an outfghter, in my opinion better than Tubbs or Golota who caused Riddick a lot of problems. I know it's a controversial opinion, but I would choose Tucker. The fight wouldn't be as good as Bowe-Holy but Tony would win by majority decision.
Bowens inside game especially the uppercuts would play a big factor and I think he would have just a little too much class down the stretch and would see out a hard fought decision
It's crazy because Tony Tucker would be the 2nd best name on Bowe's entire resume. Tucker was actually a better mover than Bowe and was big and strong enough to stand up to him. I could see Bowe winning a decision as it was possible to outbox Tucker. But it would be a very competitive fight
Tucker. At his best vs Tyson he was FAR better than the tubbs and Biggs Bowe struggled badly and went life and death with. Tucker was probably also better on the outside than Holyfield and Golota on the outside, which is where the fight would be held. Tucker imo has a better chin, faster, more mobile, more skilled Bowe really only has the edge on power and physical strength.
