Hello to all, Im forever offering my outlook on future events.... even if i look to be foolish in the end, its well worth being vocal and verbalising opinions. Hence, i will offer some thought.. with my previous posts, Ive continued to be full of praise for Barry Michael, Lester Ellis and, have managed a few words of praise for Jeff Fenech, as much as I personally consider him a well managed brawler with the best intentions, heart and stanima. With the prospect of a potential Ellis/Michael 2 and Fenech fighting the winner, depending.... suddenly its clear that the sport faces a pure leangth of idiocy.... The simple reasoning for this short brief is ...., does anyone really take on board that Fenech just fought Nelson again?????? It seems to have completely refused to impact on my on brain... even though the fight game is the purest form of sport.... not a single element of adulation could be considered worth while when reflecting on the Fenech/Nelson 3 debarcle.. Its another worry to consider Ellis/Michael 2... More so, due to the fact, both men could seriously damage themselves, or be damaged in the process. Fingers crossed, they are both fit, strong, and well prepared.. and with the fingers crossed tight enough, Fenech may be brave enough to face the winner. After the aftermath, lets hope there is no mention of further match ups... retired should mean retired.... unless, of coarse, it relates to being an old man tapping on his wifes shoulder at 5am..

OK SILLYWINGER, you mention that Fenech wouldnt let Michael ko him now.... yet, you also believe that Barry wouldnt have wiped Fenechs arse 20 years ago.... 20 years ago??? Hmmm... that would be 1988.... at that point in time, fenech was Featherweight champ in the WBC, still finding it hard to make weight.... Barry was retired for about 6 months... Have a good think, do you believe a match at lightweight, only 4 kgs above the lightweight limit, would have been a better option for Jeff??? Seriously..... Fenechs only real moment of glory from that point in time was the 'draw' in Vegas.. It was not as onesided as we suggest... i have watched the fight a hundred times, and Nelson was beaten, yes, but not exactly decisively.... History will show he was robbed, but the theft was limited to personal goods.... Why do you suddenly acknowledge that Barry would KO Fenech??? Are the steroids, (stanazol) which Fenech was a renowed user, not going to benefit him nowdays???

fenech was never the same after the las vegas loss. he subconciously caved in...

i, like his international peers acknowledge him as a hall of famer because of what he achieved BEFORE he lost his desire.

barry may have been too big for jeff? we'll never know. but barry is a long way from an international hall of famer, and hence, a long way from being considered in the same class as fenech.

did fenech use drugs? ****s me. do other boxers? have other boxers? we dont know or cant prove it. we can only judge them on results and history. history shows fenech as a hall of famer....period.

Nelson was waaaay better than Fenech when he just boxed, i reckon he was sick cause he just didnt look like he wanted to move away from the ropes. Rematch said it all.

Nelson was probably sick but thats no reason to rob Jeff like they did.

Jeff was ****ing 5 chicks a day to train for Nelson II, he probably had the clap and a bout of herpes. So he was sick too  :patsch

Fenech beat a top HOF fighting 4 weight divisions above his natural starting division. This with a style that usually doesn't work well against larger men. Look at what has happened with Hatton, fighting ONE division up, against average sized fighters for that div.

Guys who fight like Jeff will never ever have long careers. It was inevitable that age caught up with him after all the wars, and sure enough it did.

THe guy was an unbelievable fighter though, credit where credit is due. Nelson COULDN"T outbox Jeff, it had nothing to do with not wanting to do it. In the rematch, poor prep, the age and the size finally took its toll but. Jeff was an expert at getting you to fight his fight, very under rated defensively. Great head and upperbody movement, excellent workrate, very good at cutting the ring off.

Manny Pac is the p4p no1 in the world right now. Prime for prime, Fenech would have absolutely eaten him up. That to me says a lot about the sort of fighter that Jeff was.

If you have a copy of that particular fight, have a look at it... very closely..... there was not a single 10-8 round other than the twelth... Most of the middle rounds were very, very, very close... Suddenly you are making Pauline Hansons opinions seem like the best thing that came out of Ipswich...

I remember quite clearly even after Pac's wins at feather just about every poll I ever saw on the Fenech vs Pac topic most had Fenech winning this matchup.

I reckon Ive seen 1 or two lately that go significantly the other way.

Im not sure why opinions have changed so drastically, probably because Pac has shown he can handle the jump in weight better. Maybe that makes him more of a special fighter.

Either way them two going at it at superbantem would have been a seriously great fight.
