If Emanuel Steward had trained Wilder, Do you think he could have been an ATG?

Yeah he took him to court for spiking his drinks in camp.
He was happy to lie and throw someone under the bus for his own deficiencies knowing it could ruin his coach’s reputation and career,
Classless is pretty generous for him, despicable human

 

Wilder would be better off going back to being wild and unpredictable.

This trying to be a better boxer just doesn't work for him.

Wilder is low iq and stubborn in the gym. It doesn't matter who trains him coz he always thinks he knows best. That Jay Deas guy did miracles getting Wilder to where he's at. No one else has been able to teach him a damn thing. Steward probably knew this and didn't go near Wilder with a ten foot barge pole. Why would he waste his time only to get thrown under the bus when Wilder lost? Wilder is ungrateful and unwilling to accept the blame for anything he does wrong. Not even a good hiding made him change his ways.

 

And that doesn't even include how Wilder said he wanted to "take a body".

Not a fan today and was never a fan. Took longer than it should've for him to be KTFO and wholly outboxed but it was an inevitable path of self destruction.

Steward would have wanted to work with someone like Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua. Not a wild crude one trick pony like Wilder. So no.... Definitely not. Too many flaws to iron out.

 

Manny wouldn't have taken on Wilder because Wilder either doesn't want to learn or does not have the capacity to learn.
Lennox and Wlad were able to adapt and succeed with Manny. Wlad wasn't the same after Manny. OK but not the same.

When does steward become his coach when he turns pro or as a young kid/adult?

wilder started late and still went to Olympics and become a world champ despite his limitations. If he achieved this with his limited skill set imagine what he would have achieved with a lifetime of expert tuition and coaching. That goes for any gifted athletic human.

I think if ES had gotten DW around 14, it would be a very good possibility that DW could have been an ATG heavyweight.

 

If Mark Breland or Malic Scott coulndt learn Wilder how to throw a jab how would Steward learn him to be an ATG? Maybe in Alabama.

 

This right here. He is uncoachable and it’s very obvious. After the 2nd Fury fight, and hell even after the 1st, he had adjustments that needed to be made. And to his credit, beginning of fight 2 he was using the jab to the body quite often mixing in a right hand there as well. But after round 1 he said f it. Stewart would have been eventually blamed and fired at some point

 

I know Steward liked to train the tall rangy fighters… but imagine Usyk with two or three years under Stewards tutelage. I can see Emanuel really focusing on Usyk’s left hook and getting more power out of it. I think that’s a very underrated shot in Usyk’s arsenal.
