Every once and a while someone really hits the nail on the head with a perfect assessment, and this one describes Joe Joyce to a "t" I would add also...SLOW.....Super Slow!
Saw the highlights... don't care to see more. Joe looked slower than usual - if that's possible. From that "performance" don't see him having even a punchers chance at one belt. Would like to see him face Whyte or Wilder. Loser should retire.
I think the game is up for him most likely. Those Zhang losses will probably have compromised his chin and without that he is nowhere near as effective.
I did not see the fight but we don't need anyone retiring, we need as many heavyweights as we can possibly get out there fighting each other lol I remember back in the old days when a fighter started losing he didn't get written off right away, and I think Joyce is capable of beating lots of guys in the top 20.
I was actually thinking that as I watched the fight, I was saying to myself, "Jesus, I think he's actually gotten slower and more stiff" He looked really, really bad to me. That Joyce doesn't beat Parker in a rematch,
I went to the fight and it wasn’t a great performance. He still brings an insane amount of pressure and his chin is still top tier, Ali hit him with some flush right hands that just bounced off his chin. However, he was very slow and robotic. I don’t like saying that as I like big Joe. That said if he doesn’t want to retire yet there’s still some good fights out there for him, they just probably won’t be title fights. Shame, I’d have liked to have seen him pick up a belt
Joyce has nothing left to offer at this point. Someone that slow should not be able to compete at a high level.
I agree with the losing analysis. I think the reason losses are so devastating today is they fight so few bouts. On Joyce , I don't think he's got much future due to his age and ridiculously slow hands
It was the same Joe Joyce. He looked alright for a guy coming off two stoppage losses. He just went right back to fighting like he always did. He didn't seem to be tentative or afraid to get hit. He just moved forward....slowly...and threw punches....slowly...no defense.
Joyce fought like he always has when up against an opponent he had little respect for, marched forward taking shots and ground them down. Was it impressive, no, but then he's always had performances that fans have been critical of like when he beat Takam, that still didn't prevent him from stopping Parker. He wasn't in the best of shape, showed he could still take a punch at least from someone like Ali. So while it wasn't him at his best, I'm not convinced he is shot yet or that his chin has been cracked. I still think he beats Dubois and Parker in a rematch but the Wilder fight if it happens he'd be likely beaten again.
Looked like Ali stunned him at least once. When you only throw about five punches a round, you aren't going to win. Terrible fight that destroyed Joyce's resume and that of everyone he has fought.
