This is a really interesting fight and a perfect example of a smaller old school fighter against the bigger superheavyweights of today

If Ruiz can land on AJ you’d have to think Frazier would with his left hook but AJ is massive compared to Joe and would use his long jab, height and muscle to over power the smaller fighter

I would favour AJ 60/40 but wouldn’t be surprised if Frazier took him into deep waters and KOs him late

I agree that if Frazier survived the early going he´d wear AJ out for a late win especially the AJ who wasn´t the same after the Klitschko fight.

Though Joe is much smaller I still think his hook would be a problem. Bugner was pretty big and barely survived and AJ was rocked by

averaging punching Poletkin and Ruiz is not known for his one punch power.

Would have been a terrifc match up with AJ doing a Foreman I or Joe doing a Andy Ruiz I.

Remind me again which punch the obese Cruiserweight Andy Ruiz did Joshua in with ? The "Left Hook".

I agree that AJ would help his cause by getting it over with early. The problem with AJ is that he wouldn't be able to match the output, or volume that Ali used to beat Frazier, and he also doesn't have the type of style to constantly push Frazier back as effectively as Foreman did. It really just comes down to whether he can nail Joe with a big shot or not. He would have problems if he couldn't.

I don't think Frazier's style would allow him to have as much success in the superheavyweight era. Guys like Ali and Holmes would still be very successful because he relied on his speed, an advantage he would have in tenfold today, which is why Usyk is able to compete today despite the size disadvantage. Foreman relied on his physical attributes alot but he was still a tremendous puncher and good enough at long and mid range to where the size wouldn't play a major factor.

Frazier though, was an inside fighter. Up in your chest and pushing you back with relentless pressure. In today's era he would be going up against guys who would outweigh him so heavily that he would be unable to execute his usual plan. He was also hittable and droppable as we saw in the Bonavena and Foreman fights (though he was pretty much impossible to keep down).

Against guys like Lewis, Fury and Joshua his game plan would just not work. They would be far too strong up close. People will point to the Ruiz fight as proof as to why Frazier would beat them but Ruiz outweighed Joshua in that fight, is a faster combination puncher than Joe, and still got dropped heavily, early. If it had been Joe, I can't really imagine him just eating the right hand that Ruiz did after being knocked down.

All this is not to say he wouldn't have any success at all. I think he beats Usyk and would beat a Joseph Parker. But against the bigger stronger skilled hard punching guys I struggle to see him matching his late 60s/70s accomplishments.

Larry and Muhammad are also big men and capable of carrying 215-225 pounds comfortably.

Joe Frazier doesn't 'beat' Anthony Joshua. He beheads him.

Preach! a guy that got ko'ed by the burger chef Ruiz is going to beat Smokin Joe Frazier? Not on this planet..
Fraziers head wasn't sticking straight up like Ngannou's , like a mail box on a post waiting to get hit.
Frazier chews him up and spits him out inside 10.

There's nothing a body-puncher like Joe Frazier would love more than a long torso.

And what score do you think Frazier would have in 6 fights against Holmes and Ali; 3 with Holmes and 3 with Ali (Frazier had 3 fights with Ali)?

Holmes went life-and-death with a 34-year-old Ken Norton. A prime Frazier would go right through him.
Holmes sparred with an over-the-hill Frazier and still got one of his ribs broken.
