Number 1, why didn't this fight happen and who would win if it did happen?

I went with Williams by KO. But if Valdez is on point this could be tough

I’ll go with the Big Cat.

He had way bigger and thweatier muscles than El Niño.

Oh, and I also think Cleve had the skills and punch otherwise to KO Valdez.

Valdes was shortlisted as an opponent for the 19 year old Williams way back in 1953, but Williams's team ended up going with Omelio Agramonte who was, at the time, a bigger name.

Interesting. Don't you favor Mac Foster over a prime Williams?

I look forward to you producing the extensive list of rated guys Foster beat.

At that stage in his career, Valdez likely pulls a Satterfield on him.

Prime for prime however, I'd overwhelmingly favor Williams.

Not forgetting Joe McFadden, who drew with Valdes just 6 months before being stopped in 3 by the 19 year old Williams.

Valdes does seem the logical pick at that point, although this was in early 53 when he was in the middle of a 4-bout losing streak. If he performs the way he did in his dreary loss to Billy Gilliam I'd say even a young Williams has a good chance.

I remember AJ Liebling describing Valdez as “a playful porpoise” of a heavyweight.

I don’t see the Big Cat losing to a dolphin, especially a playful one.

Williams, overall faster, physically stronger, more agile and could take some good punches.

Non who Valdez fought had Williams' punch, well except Satterfield and Liston of course which we all knew how it went down already
