Could Tszyu and his team have called the fight after the 4th round?

Well, you mix that in the Vaseline and in a deep cut like that it won’t matter. In the nose that works better to stop the blood vessels from bleeding but it’s not much else to do with deep cuts like that than stuff as much of Vaseline as possible and hope for the best.

 

Man just stop, Vaseline isnt going to stop the bleeding. You need the other stuff. I’ve watch boxing for a long time and this was the bloodiest fight I can recall.

 

His team literally said they were going to walk Fundora into something big. They said that was the gameplan after the cut and why they didn't call for the fight to be stopped. His own team's hubris bit them back hard

 

However you cut it, Fundora shouldn't walk around thinking this was a legit victory and that he's all that- if he gives Tszyu a rematch and wins, then we'll talk. All he did was spam jabs with an occasional left hand into the face of a blind fighter.

 

Tim has a lot of pride and confidence in hisself. He clearly wanted to fight on but the corner should have convinced him otherwise. I was shocked that the ring doctor didn’t stop it at some point as Tim lost a lot of blood.

In hindsight though, it was obvious in the third round that the tide switched dramatically in Fundora’s favour. His team simply had to advise Tim to tell the ref that he can’t see due to the blood, which was accurate.

The decision to not stop has cost him his undefeated record, two world title belts, a certain amount of marketability in the US, massive paydays in his next few fights.

It’s like having access to a multi-million-dollar lottery ticket and letting it expire. I see it as an atrocious blunder that shouldn’t be viewed any other way.
