He lost at least 7 pints. Possibly 8 or 9. If that was a 15 rounder he would've been dead come round 13 or 14
Do you know how many fights JCC lost? Practically all of them if you just count the first 2 rounds. I’m sick of these excuses for TT. He chose to fight on. And unfortunately it cost him his title. The only valid excuse is that he had 3 weeks to train for a guy who is the complete opposite of what Thurman is. But if that’s the excuse, how did he win the first 2 rounds? People not giving SF his credit are just mad their guy lost.
Who knows why they want to discredit Tszyu…but even a cursory look at this forum tells you that they do.
Huge Tszyu fan and I predicted it would be a potential banana skin fight because I rate Fundora highly. Have to say I got a laugh pre-fight at the uninformed comments about Fundora and his chances. As soon as you lose a fight these days, the armchair 'experts' write you off as shite and always having been shite.
It’s not a mutually exclusive thing nimwit. It’s entirely possible to give credit to Fundora (as many including myself have) and acknowledge that the cut was the deciding factor in the fight. Fundora was terrific. Brave, tough and a quality fighter. But he was almost certainly on his way to a bad loss. Tszyu was equally brave but a combination of the cut and an extraordinarily bad decision to continue means that he lost. Now this takes nothing away from Fundora who won fair and square. After all, it was Tszyu who elected to fight on. But it doesn’t change the fact that the cut almost certainly changed the outcome of the fight. But props to Fundora for taking advantage of the situation Tszyu was in. He can only fight what is in front of him. Would he win a rematch under different circumstances? Well I know who my money will be on should the situation arise.
First of all, no need for name calling. Talk to me like you would if you were in front of me like a man. I always talk to everyone here with absolute respect even when disagreeing. Secondly, cuts are a part of boxing. And lastly, no fight is won in 2 rounds without a ko. Many fighters make adjustments. Now I’m not saying there wasn’t any effect but again, that’s a large part of the sport. Fundora has only lost 1 time. It’s not like he was just some scrub picked out of the audience. He poses significant challenges with his height, reach and ability. He’s not an easy fight for anyone and I’m positive he has lost the first 2 rounds in lots of fights.
Yet he was able to sit in the locker room and comfortably give post fight interviews without being rushed to the hospital. Stop making stuff up. LOL. *Edit. Dammit! You got me again!
Apologies for the sledge. I’ll cop that. But you are getting caught up in semantics. If you were being honest with yourself you’d at least admit that you rarely ever see an accidental cut that bad that had so much effect on a particular fight. It’s one thing to say cuts happen in boxing. This is not in dispute. But to diminish the impact of this particular cut is a slight on Tszyu. People are carrying on as though he is an inferior fighter to Fundora and have somehow twisted this into Tszyu being all hype and somehow unworthy of his belt. And this is what many of us are pissed at. We are not avoiding credit for Fundora but anybody with eyes (ironically) can see that the fight was compromised through no fault of either guy. As I said, it’s not mutually exclusive. Fundora was great. Tszyu was equally as great. To get that fight to a tight card in his situation was superhuman. But the moment the result was announced the usual mouthbreathing bottomfeeders in here started hurling faeces from the cheap seats at a guy who they really should be celebrating. Proper fight fans are able to see that fight as both compromised and brilliant. Proper fight fans can give credit to a tough, brave winner AND a guy who fought through an awful lot of bad luck and adversity to almost rescue an impossible situation.
