Seeing Jesse Burnett's name here when noting his robbery at the hands of the judges against Conteh, it got me to thinking....what are some decisions that are typically thought of as bad calls that you actually found to be correct?

I know most disagree, but I thought Leon Spinks' surge late against Mr. Burnett earned him the narrow victory. I winced as I wrote up my fight report, but there it was, a bit of a surprise even to me. I'd heard what an injustice it was and I just didn't see it that way.

    Now you.......

Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn alot of people called it a robbery i personally didn't see it that way, i thought Horn roughed up Pacquiao and made it his type of fight to earn the decision.

    Ibeabuchi vs Tua.

I’ve heard people say that Tua deserved the nod but I’ve watched it a few times now and every time I’ve thought Ike won it clear.

Vito Antuofermo and Marvin Hagler was a very close and competitive fight — definitely in the draw territory and I think I might have had Vito winning by a point? I’d have to go back and look.

Marvin’s winning rounds were more decisive, but he took rounds and portions of rounds off and Vito had more than his share of roughhousing success.

That was a great fight, I haven't watched it since I saw it live on I believe it was HBO? Ike deserved the nod just by going toe to toe with Tua for 12 straight rounds...... just kidding I thought he deserved the decision, although after the fight he complained of terrible headaches which doesn't surprise me.

I think Harold Ledderman and The Ring Magazine at the time said Holmes getting the nod over Carl Williams was the biggest robbery in history at the time.

Not only did I think Holmes but I think Witherspoon deserved the win over Holmes more than Williams. I wrote about both fights in the scorecard thread a few years ago.

It’s good and entertaining but it’s not the slugfest people make out. Tua landed some big shots and Ike outworked him. High volume but not dramatic at all.

Pacquiao-Bradley. Lampley and the HBO teamed acted like it was all Pacquiao the whole way. Bradley even got death threats from nutty fans, (he didn't score the fight, so why were they blaming him?)

I thought Pac missed a lot of punches and Bradley outboxed him. Turn the sound down or stop listening to jack ass Jim Lampley going nuts every time Pacquiao threw a flurry that missed.

Exactly the way I saw it as well. It was a good, clean fight which lacked any real drama.

Anyone who says SRL didn't beat Hagler. Lots of people have questioned that one.. I got it Ray by about a round or two.. If you were Haglers dad you might score it a draw at best, but no way Hagler won it.

I think combat sports shouldn't have commentary for this reason tbh. The commentator basically gets to decide who the public thought won a swing round even if that isn't their intent. Say what you want about the judges they don't get the soundtrack they are just watching the fight. Pre fight and post fight is different but play by play distorts peoples memories IMO.
