    "noun
    1. fair and generous behaviour or treatment of others, especially in a sporting contest."

I can't understand how abusing the rules to gain massive advantage by being more willing to risk your health outside the ring could possibly fit the definition of sportsmanship above.

I presume you would think that, for example, Lia Thomas swimming against natal women was completely sportsmanlike and fair, despite the clear and unfair advantage of male puberty?
I mean, the rules allowed it - until they didn't anymore.

I don't see much of a difference - exploiting a weak rule to take advantage of competitors can never be sportsmanlike in my book.

It's not equivalent - very clearly.

If there wasn't a huge advantage to be had, nobody would boil down that hard and experience that ordeal, take that risk, etc.

The reason they do it is BECAUSE it's a big advantage.

Okay, but as we've just established:
    weight advantage > freshness

Ryan's not the naturally bigger fighter, and wasn't the bigger guy in the ring.

So who has the bigger advantage?
I can't see how it's possibly anyone other than Haney - just not as much as usual.

I respect Garcia for being less dishonest about his real weight.

    They both cheated.
    Most fighters do.

Ryan actually looked the bigger fighter in there but I stand by my point. 1 fighter made the weight the other one did not even attempt to make the weight and cheated.

No won 1 guy cheated. They should just have made the fight for 143.2 pounds that would have been a level playing field.

And yet they were both way over 150 on fight night, and Haney almost certainly comfortably over 160.

That 3lbs represents approximately 12% of the 25lbs that Haney normally blows up between the scales and the ring.

    12%

How is it, in real terms, an uneven playing field when it's a fraction of the rehydration AND when the guy with the "advantage" on the scales is at a disadvantage in the ring?

And to be clear, I completely understand that Ryan was outside the rules - I just don't see how anyone can see it as a major problem when the rules are so loose that the weigh-in was already a nonsense.

    I repeat: they both cheated.

One cheated within the rules, the other didn't - but they both cheated.

I always knew Ryan was better than Devin Haney, and now he has the dub to prove it.

...okay, I'll admit it; I thought Ryan was done and Devin was going to cook him, but I forgot the one thing that has always been true about Devin Haney; he's a chinny weight-bully who can't punch. Except this time he was in the ring with someone his own size, power, and faster hands. Ryan didn't exactly have to be Muhammad Ali to touch him up.

This also proves that Subrial Mattias would toe-tag Devin Haney. Karma is real, *****; bragging about the Loma "win" finally came back to bite you and your ***** of a father.

You obviously have never boxed and has to sacrifice to make the weight so you clearly don’t know what you are talking about.

Well he is in the prime of his life at 25
So either he was trolling everyone or he is young enough to get away with it.

I keep reading how Haney was heavier than Garcia in the fight. Really? I'm not seeing it. Garcia is thick through the chest. I think they were about the same weight. And honestly, I thought Garcia was a tad bigger.

If that's so, Olu, then Floyd cheated and his win over JMM is tainted.

    Sorry bubbles.......Some logic missing here.

Haney did nothing that could be termed cheating.

    Same to you, Olu.

You have a slightly better case than Bubbles, but IMO, Garcia did not cheat either.

    IMO, neither man 'cheated.'
