Haney has no power and no chin. He just doesn't have the genetic privileges. Should he retire now ?

Absolutely - a track record based on weight bullying and leveraging physical advantages (weight, height, reach) comes unstuck when a similar reality-weight fighter enters the ring.

Doesn't mean that Haney can't still be successful (to a point) - but his time will be short unless he's able to continue cutting this hard for a long time, which probably isn't a realistic possibility. As soon as he can't cut hard, he'll lose plenty more.

It never seems to amaze me how some are willing to put so much energy into arguing, supporting, and pushing an idiotic theory. I'm damned if I try to help them understand logic. I'm damned if I just let them be comfortable in their ignorance. Oh, well.

Why should he retire just because of one loss? I'm far from being a Haney supporter, to put it mildly, but that's just silly. I don't understand boxing fans. On one hand, they complain, 'Boxing is terrible these days. Back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s, it was so much better.' Back then, fighters took losses as part of the game because they faced the best. Losses to quality opponents were seen as battle scars, a sign of a true warrior. You win some, you lose some, but it's far more important to show heart than to maintain an undefeated record. That was the general consensus back then. On the other hand, the same fans who reminisce about how much better boxing used to be now value 0-loss records above all else and want fighters to retire after a single loss. Why? You can't have brave warriors always facing the best and maintain 0-loss records at the same time.

No. Haney has massive potential and is still one of the most skilled boxers in the game. His schooling of Kamobosos and Regis plus his competiveness against Loma (He lost imo) shows that he is in a league of his own.

    An interesting interpretation

None of that post aged badly, really, so I'm not really sure what point you think you're making.

Haney is a massive weight bully.
Haney will struggle with guys his own size/weight.
Haney will still have success by cutting hard to make sure almost all opponents aren't his own size.
Haney will start losing a lot more when his body won't let him cut so hard and he has to go up the divisions more.

Ryan being on PEDs doesn't change any of those points above - it doesn't magically make Haney a serious P4P fighter, not by a very long way.

Ultimately, Ryan had PEDs and a bit more weight on the scales, Haney had the referee and almost certainly more weight between the ropes.
An unequal contest in lots of ways, but how one sided it was means that Haney's reputation won't be magically restored even with the asterisk/NC besides the result.

Too easy to hit with hooks, his defense is wide open.
