Overall it's an entirely unfortunate development, because I believe Garcia has the necessary physical tools to beat Haney if he only approached his craft with a modicum of dedication and professionalism
Actually, anything is possible. At this point nobody really knows, only speculation. But ask yourself, if you had the power to back a fighter and was corrupt, who would you back out of Haney and Garcia? Who has the bigger fan base? Who is more likable and marketable? These guys are all about the money. Garcia has a much higher ceiling than Haney does. Doesn't make sense to take Haney over Garcia if you want to fix fights, hype fighters and be corrupt.
Garcia seems to partake in copious amounts of party drugs and booze, I'd be shocked if he didn't partake in PEDs. That being said most pros are on PEDs. It seems like it's only cheating if you're dumb enough to get caught.
He cheated, it´s pretty clear. First the referee was paid off and saved Haney from a KO. Then the judges were paid to rob Garcia. Then the clock was cut short in one of the rounds by the paid off officials. Now someone intentionally tainted Garcia´s samples/falsified the results. Can´t make this up. What a cluster**** of a fight. He took ostarine to help with his weight cut. It helps you retain muscle and overall fitness while on a severe caloric deficit. Ostarine is a very, very popular drug in the fitness industry/bodybuilding because of this quality. And it´s also easy to obtain.
I actually don't think he did. Why on earth would you use PEDs to fight Haney...but not Tank? Tank is regarded as a better and more dangerous fighter than Haney, and Garcia already fought Haney 6X in the ams and won half of them. Why would you not bother to make weight...but get caught for a drug that used to cut weight? Let's also not forget that Haney is the one working with Conte as well. Let's also look at the fact that the only tests he failed...were the ones that occurred on days he would have known for a fact he was being tested. So he passed the totally random ones, but failed ones where he knew he would be tested?????? There are simply too many things that don't make sense to me.
I genuinely don't know, and I'll say that anyone who outright dismisses the possibility of drug testing getting weaponised against certain fighters by the boxing establishment, (the same boxing establishment we have seen rig the sport up and down, in and out.... forever) are being willfully naive, to put it mildly. I think this provides a great opportunity for these companies to start becoming more transparent with their safeguards against manipulation. I think boxing and the public deserve to know how these companies guard fighters against foul play.
This is what Ive been saying. Garcia himself said this fight was for the face of boxing and he is the new face of boxing. It makes no sense for the powers that be to favour Haney over Garcia. I mean why would they defame the name of their new cash cow to cheat for Haney. That makes no sense at all. However, in all my years watching the sport this the first time Ive ever seen a fighter get caught for PEDS and everybody is defending, and making excuses for him. Ive never seen it before, its strange.
