Would Ryan Garcia have beaten Devin Haney without the PEDs in his system?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Xie Xun, May 3, 2024.

Would Ryan still have won without PEDs and coming in over weight?

  1. Yes, he still would have won

    73.1%
  2. No, he surely would have lost

    23.9%
  3. I believe Ryan is innocent

    3.0%

Would Garcia still win due to styles and game plan, or would he have gotten schooled by Haney?

How much of a difference did the PEDs and missing weight really make?

That left hook isn't something PED can produce. It was all Garcia. I personally think he took it to make weight and when it was evident he wouldn't make it even with PED he said screw it.

The issue that Haney had that night had nothing to do with anything Garcia allegedly took. It had everything to do with the lack of defensive focus that Haney showcases often but he never faced a specific power + punch that would expose him. Garcia had ONE PUNCH and one punch only that he leaned on in all of his fights. You know it, I know it, and every fighter in the sport knows it, yet Haney got hit with it 9x. Clean

That was my first thought. Ryan has welterweight or even Jr middleweight size. Still don't see how Haney boils down to 140 then is 165 2 days later though. He also had 19-norandrosterone which he might of also taken to lose weight. He made a statement about trying "everything" to make weight after the fight. Curious to find out what is suspension will be.

Haney was hurt by tiny little natural 126 pounder leprechaun Loma who he had an obscene weight advantage over

Rocked by career 126/130 featherfist leprechaun Jojo who had stopped 2 of his last 12 or 13 opponents, or 2 of his last 18 now, and is 2-5 at 135 and could very easily be 1-6.

Had that completely washed much smaller inactive Linares he fought caught him 10-20 seconds earlier he would've finished him. Linares is an excellent finisher and super fast

Linares and Rougarou were the only punchers he'd fought prior to Ryan, both of whom two divisions lighter or a pound under two in Rougarou's case.

And Rougarou can't close the distance to land with his power against a rangy elusive boxer to save his life, as evidenced in his previous fight when he was dropped and went life and death against a Zorilla

All of whom, again, Haney was way bigger than

Ryan was the first young prime legit puncher closer to his size he fought

There's a reason why he hugs like crazy. There's a reason all octopuses do. He don't got a good chin. Watch that chin get cracked again when he starts facing other legit punchers his own size or closer to it instead of OAP shot and past prime leprechauns he's way bigger and heavier than

Cutting weight is brutal so there is no doubt it made a difference.

Osterin allows one to drop weight without losing muscle.

Garcia probably was at 147lbs so took the ped to lose those 4lbs without putting his body through torture.

Just look at how fresh Garcia looked at the end of the fight.

It's so funny how prior to the Garcia fight, Haney was so confident to become undisputed at 140, even though all the other current champs are legit punchers and atleast two of them are almost the same height as him lol.
