    What a card!

    TJ Doheny has kinda resurrected his career and done so in Japan. I love that he is finding success in the twilight of his career.
    Takuma Inoue is on an absolute roll. I never expected to see anything this good from him. I was pretty sure he would loose his title soon after winning it. But his last two performances, albeit not against the best of the division, have been really good. I would love to see him unify, I think he might upset one of the other 4 Japanese kings.
    Speaking of kings, well done Yoshiki Takei! I had faith in him and he delivered. Now all 4 belts at 118 belong to the Japanese.
    Seigo Yuri Akui proved that he belongs at the world level by showcasing his improvements vs Kuwahara.

    Inoue hasn't fought many legit punchers but, as you say, Nonito was about as legit a puncher as there is in the leprechaun divisions sans Inoue and Inoue took bombs off him whilst compromised by a broken orbital socket and nose and double vision in that eye.

    Hardest puncher Crawford has fought is Mean Machine IMO, especially one his own size. Mean Machine can crack with both hands but Nonito obviously >> Mean Machine

    I'm not sure. I think he might decide to not venture up any higher than 126. His father might advise him not to either

    There was a replay on RMC that was slow motion and from a different angle that really gives the best possible look at every detail of this.

    Can't find it anywhere on Twitter or YouTube shorts yet. Wondering if any of the other international feeds even showed that angle.

    he never saw it, had his neck completely relaxed. fighters just dont throw 2 uppers in a row from midrange like that, cause they dont have the quickness to land em without getting countered. inoue is one who can.

    Exactly! Nery ate that first uppercut, and obviously didn't like it, but he was still lucid. He probably thought Inoue would take a step back and admire his work or something. Maybe throw another hook like the one he'd just blocked, body shot at worst. Doubling up on the shot, with that brief a refractory period, was the absolute last thing he was expecting Inoue to do. Nery was caught in a liminal space between "ow that hurt" and "let me regroup and think out my next move while sitting on the middle rope". There was zero defensive tension left in him at that precise moment, and that made him a lamb to slaughter.

    Yeah, there's always a physical explanation for a physical occurrence; it's not magic or special effects - but when something looks odd like that, it usually is odd. Put me in mind of Zarate. Pip pap, like a drunk emptying ashtrays and goodnight and goodluck.

    the presence of mind to see the moment is what impressed me. this was not a practiced shot. he didnt do drills to perfect that shot. he just saw it and is gifted enough to take advantage.

    Yeah, not sure too many people drill the "double shallow uppercut on the jaw with your opponent on the ropes after you've fed them a diversionary left hook" scenario. :lol:

    The 5th round knockdown was even better IMO. The punch traveled maybe 6 inches but there was enough power in it to knock Nery down very hard. That was the beginning of the end.
