Very concerning listening to some of his more recent interviews. Think his time at the top of the sport is numbered I'd like to see him get some of the big fights done before then. I've watched interviews lately where he can't even think of Conor Benn's name even though he's been beefing with him on X and another where he's struggling to get his words out. I'm not sure how long he has left in the game if other areas of his cognitive processing become effected like his motor functions etc but he's definitely a fighter I've started to appreciate. I know he had a few stipulations in place over Garcia but the way he took his left hook away was truly masterful. I actually thought Hector Garcia was whooping him until the last round or two but Davis is one of those fighters whose so confident in his power he's happy to sit back and drop rounds to figure a fighter out. I still want to see him vs Lomachenko. This content is protected Seen a few interviews lately where he's sounded bad but this is one example. He wasn't like this 2-3 years ago.
He's a very limited person if it wasn't for boxing he would be a statistic. He gets a bad rep but he's not a bad dude and has done well considering from where he started just needs to fight better competition that's all most of his critics including myself want other than that he's OK.
He's fine, that's the dumb you are hearing. His brain naturally processes ideas much slower than the average person.
I used to think this when I first started watching his interviews. While we don’t know for sure, I think his poor speech could stem from his lack of education and where he’s from. Baltimore is kind of notorious for it’s horrendous accents. Check out the first ten seconds of this clip: This content is protected
Surely he'd have to fight some actual champions and achieve a bit more before it could be said that he's at the top in the first place? Disappointing career to date - lots of potential, lots of noise, lots of available fights and very very little to show for it.
That’s just how he speaks, he also said he doesn’t like doing all this media stuff so he’s cautious about what he says
I think he is just slow he is a clever boxer but I doubt he could even recite the alphabet or do simple multiplication.
It's funny how athletes are idolized by so many yet a lot of them have shockingly low intelligence levels. There was controversy a few years back when a NCAA football star's college essay was posted online and it was at about a 4th grade level of writing.
Yep I know guys I played footy with and went to school with that made the NRL and some of them are dumb AF can't even read or write properly.
