No surprise. I said it would be Martin. A good boxer but has no power. A safe fight to rebuild Haneys ravaged mental state.
Yes, I agree, no surprise. Martín was used to rebuild Teo as well. Same movement, but it backfired to Teo, it can very well backfire again to Haney (and get robbed again).
Did the Haney's get to chose who the mandatory would be? What interest would the WBC have in rebuilding Haney's confidence?
I expect Haney to do better than Teo and Mikey, but boy this will probably be a dreadful fight to watch.
These organisations cosy up to certain promotions, Hearn is in cosy with them and they like the money they get from Haney from sanctioning fees, Hearns buys of judges etc. And before he signed with Hearn he got a gift from paid off judges v Loma.
Martin was the mandatory before the Garcia fight. It´s just now made official. And this will be no walk in the park. Martin was good enough to outbox Mikey Garcia and Teofimo. And even if you thought Teo won, you will have to admit it was close. Martin is a top contender at 140 and one of the best guys Haney has fought since being emailed his first world title.
WBC - We be crook are also the same one that had Wilder mando for 5 years after 3 lose and two by knock out. I don't put much into it. Haney could have picked anyone for a come back. It didn't have to be a mando. Martin is a good boxer but against come forward pressure fighter. Here Haney will not lead but look to counter the counter. Also if it is close Haney will get the node. This is the easiest name opponent Haney could have found. Lack of power means Haney has little t worry about. I think Haney speed will be the difference. I scored the fight for Martin against Lopez. But Lopez and Haney are two completely different style. Here Haney will just do enough to win rnds were as Lopez was just looking for that KO punch.
