Willard vs. Schmeling

Moran just wasn't very good. Tough and hard hitting but that's it. There's guys on this very forum that look like friggin Lomachenko compared to him.

 

Willard's size, stamina, and doggedness would have been a challenge for Max. Max might have had to been a little more aggressive than he was used to in order to win. He would have to fight out of his comfort zone. I think he'd win, but he wouldn't have a lock on it. He has a challenge in getting in close enough to the big man to do some damage.

 

Why is Willard's offense crude?

 

Bill Brennan also minded his P's and Q's.

 

I lean towards Schmeling if it's a 15 rounder.

 

FWIW, Gunboat Smith had some good things to say about Willard, alas, atm, I can’t quite recall the specific details of what he said. Lol.

I vaguely recall that the compliments related to Jess’s durability, stamina and power of punch - I’m not 100% though.

 

I agree with him being underrated , now whether he could catch Max is another matter. I sorta lean towards Max over 15 in his prime
