Fury finally met someone who is an elite level boxer who can adapt during a dight from plan A to plan b....and even a plan c. Uysk was working him constantly with his amazing movement of his feet
Fury, for the first time in his career, failed to dominate in the clinch. He failed to use his weight and reach to wear down Usyk. I had a good look at how Usyk brilliantly denied every clinch attempt.
The nose damage in round 7 iirc turned the fight in Usyks favour and not only did he regroup from there but basically took over leading to that 9th round.Usyk was the man tonight and should be P4P no1 now !
He was out fought by a better fighter. There's no shame to this, I still think Fury is a helluva fighter. However, Usyk is a generational great. Fighters like this don't come along very often.
He got out worked by the better boxer. Fury didn't seem to capitalize when he had Usyk stunned. As he has always done, Usyk figured Fury out and came back.
Fury had figured out Usyk's 1-2. Usyk started stepping in with a lead right hook, which drew Fury's arms out to deflect. Usyk saw the guard change and loaded up the biggest straight left behind it and connected on the button. Fury didn't handle his success in the right way. He was so dominant that he stopped thinking and stopped giving Usyk different looks to keep him occupied. Had he stepped forward and kept ripping combinations to the body, Usyk never sets up that left hand and loses decisively.
Listen everyone trying to rag on Fury is a joke, the guy lost a split decision to a Hall of Fame ATG fighter. Not a bad first loss of your career to have. And the fight was competitive. That was as good a fight as we could have hoped for. Credit both men. Both stocks rise.
Yeah end of the day the rematch is still going to be A 50/50. Usyk can't get complacent because Fury will come in with a vengeance and doesn't give up. I was stunned Fury kept on his feet as long as he did.
I agree. I thought fury wouldn't play nice and look to use his size rough up and lean on usyk but he didn't. That was a mistake imo. Wlad was the master of holding and leaning on his smaller opponents he would sap their energy by doing it. It was a great strategy and it worked for him.
His father is a ****ing idiot. You never tell your fighter in a close fight that you're winning the fight.
Beingnatbthe fight itself which was extremely intense I didn't waste time with round scoring. However I did think Fury won by 1 round but the Knockdown flipped the points total in Usyks favor. Fury hadto deal with Usyks constant pressure and wilted late because of this pressure and the broken nose. No matter what he did, no matter how many punches he landed, and no matter how many silly games he was playing, Fury was pushed around the ring by a crazy person who had a plan.
