Round 9 - Fury was out

Had it been stopped at rd 9, there'd be nonstop debate on whether it's an early stoppage for a HW championship fight with all the belts on the line. You stop the fight to save amateurs still on their feet from serious injury like Conor Mcgregor but not a HW champ who's still on his feet.

Could’ve been stopped for sure. He was probably seconds away from being so. Rewind some years back to the first Wilder fight, could’ve just been easily been called out then…he was a single solitary second away. This is boxing. It’s why we love it.

 

If Usyk had the opportunity to land another power punch instead of the ref deeming it a knockdown its over.

 

You don't stop a lineal champion famed for his powers of recovery in a fight for the undisputed title in that situation. Stopped him in the Wilder fight would have been a lot more legitimate and we're all glad he didn't.

Context matters.

 

A great call by the ref. Not sure what all the fuss is about - Fury fell into the ropes from a punch WITH THE ROPES ALONE SUPPORTING HIM and it was scored as a knockdown.

 

If the ref didn’t interfere Fury would’ve been sparked out. No one would’ve complained.

 

Should've been stopped, but that's where home ring advantage comes in.

 

He didn't beat the count. Usyk was robbed of a KO win. The count was super slow. That was a clear KO!!!

 

I wouldve been okay with a stoppage but Fury is like Marquez, they are known for recuperating quick so the refs probably take that into account.

 

Not sure why anyone is upset...it turned out all right and the win was epic.

 

Ref probably took into account how Usyk was saved by the ref in a recent fight as well.

 

Did he just say Mc Gregor is landing better but Lowe might be winning rounds with pressure?
