I agree with what you say about quality over quantity. Surely beating Fury, Joshua twice, plus stopping the dangerous and hard hitting Dubois means more than trudging through 10/15/20 lower ranked guys just to pad out his resume.

Having said that, if he’s successful in a rematch against Fury, I’d like to see defences against 2 or 3 of the current top 10 before he finally calls it a day. But at his age and the time it takes to arrange these mega fights, I feel that it’s doubtful that we’ll see this happen.

Cruiserweight has been historically weak but he beat Huck, Briedis, Glowacki and Gassiev to unify the division. You can add to that Mchunu; who had great success at Cruiserweight and Michael Hunter; who had some success at heavyweight.
It was such a good run that it convinced a lot of people Usyk would do well at Heavyweight.

Assuming this fight happens in October, which it almost definitely won't, Usyk usually fights once a year anyway and he'll be 38 years old by years end. I don't really want to see the much smaller, much lighter, much older man in Usyk defending his title against people like AJ or Parker or Kabayel. It won't end well.

Fury dicks around so much that if I were Usyk I'd just retire right now. To this day, Fury has NEVER honoured a rematch clause. He delayed against Klitschko and then retired, wasting a year of Klitschko's career, and then tried to get out of fighting Wilder until he was taken to court, taking him 18 ****ing MONTHS to rematch Wilder.

Then it took his fat ass 20 ****ing months to finally unify against Usyk! If I'm Usyk, who's to say he won't dick around for another 20 months? I'm retiring right now.

A few easy defences to pad the bank balance, retire before mid 2025.

No need to test his stamina and punch resistance at this age.

At crusierweight, No2, behind Holyfield. Although I am not sure would beat James Toney at that weight.

At heavyweight, arguably Top 15. But certainly not Top 10.

Nobody cares about the cruiser weight division. Lol Joshua is a HOF? Why? Because he barely got by a 41 year old Wlad?
Fury is a HOF? Why because he barely got pass a 40 year old Wlad and then beat Deontay Wilder a overrated hype job?

If beating Joshua makes you a HOF for some reason then great. Andy Ruiz is a HOF and better than Usyk because he knocked out Joshua and made him question himself. The Joshua that Usyk fought was clearly mentally broken and doubted himself. This was caused by Ruiz knocking him out in their first fight.

Usyk isn't a ATG . He is just a guy who turned pro at cruiserweight a division nobody cares about. Decided to move up to heavyweight in a time where the heavyweight division is the worst it has been in years. Beat some no name talents and a couple of hype jobs.

But if you want to pretend Usyk is great then wouldn't that make Buster Douglas a ATG? He beat a undefeated Mike Tyson, He beat Trevor Berbick a former champion and he beat Oliver McCall a former heavyweight champion?

He's probably cracked the top 20 ATG...I guess it depends on time. When Spinks beat Holmes in the first fight, people were falling all over each other singing praises (Spinks one of the top 10 pfp ATGs! Yeah, really). Aft

er the second fight things cooled (and people magically started noting more Holmes' ring rust and signs of decline in the first one); plus, Michael's titular defenses weren't exactly inspiring given the opposition. Of course, the initial hype all but disappeared with the Tyson fight.

It's mightily impressive Usyk beat the younger Fury, but let's take a look back at the Wilder 3 and Ngannou fights. Anyone see signs of decline? Call me cuckoo, but even standing up Wilder 2 against Wilder 3 shows a definite lessening of abilities in Fury.

Fury stands tall at well within the top 15 heavies of all time. It probably goes without saying that Usyk has awhile to go before he shoots ahead of him on that list. Another victory over Fury (and let's say Ruiz or Parker) would jack him up notably imo.

He’s 1 or 2 at cruiserweight. I’d put him at 1 because he won every fight on the road. Not sure if he would beat cruiser Holyfield. He might though.

At heavy it’s tricky he just doesn’t have the body of work to place him very high all time imo. He has 3 excellent wins in the division Joshua twice and Fury. He is undefeated too.
Take someone like Ingemar Johansson he has two stellar wins in the division crushing Machen the number 1 contender in 1 and then Patterson. But not much else. Or Tunney an ATG but his run at heavy is quite brief. He no longer makes most top 10.
I’d say Usyk can place inside the top 30 safely now. But just as a fighter or a p4p list he rates much much higher.

He isn't ranked higher than Holyfield. That's for sure

I hear you. Waiting around for Fury could take years, but let’s assume Fury plays ball for the first time ever, and Usyk gets him out of there again, if he still feels up to it, a couple of defences to cement his legacy would be just what the doctor ordered.

I suspect Usyk is one of those guys who will know what his limitations are…just a hunch I have about him, so I could be wrong. So if he thinks he can still perform at his best, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him carry on for a wee bit longer.

Still, he hasn't been paid as much as AJ and Fury, unfortunately.
