Is it just me or does anyone else think Joyce has aged quite a bit since that first Zhang fight? He always looked really fresh for his age, but now has that older guy look about him.
The presser for this looked like some lads having fun after the pub. "Must-win for Chisora" says Frank - the guy's lost regularly for years! No doubt this will sell well if the tickets aren't ridiculous.
It is actually a decent match up between 2 men approaching middle age with both taking good pastings over the past 2 years. Joyce is probably the one man that will not try to avoid the telegraphed Chisora overhead right and it is a fight with uncertainty of outcome.
I think it'll be an entertaining fight that could go either way. It was rumoured a few years ago, glad it's going to happen. There's alot worse fights either man could take.
If Joyce wins, gets some momentum and gets his confidence back, could build up an end of the year rematch with Dubois
No uncertainty of outcome here, Beale, as Joyce will bludgeon Chisora. Joyce, who does look older in the face now (one has to wonder what has gone on behind closed doors during that period - may have been a difficult time for Joyce), is still less shot than Chisora who has been shot to bits for years. Chisora looked absolutely shot to pieces against Washington, who himself was in his forties when he faced Chisora.
Both old men and Big Bang has twice showed the punch resistance of Joyce has diminshed, as expected, after a career always defending punches with his face. Chisora should have little problem landing that big overhead right and when it does, timber will certainly fall. Joyce needs to box clever in this fight similar to Fury at Spurs FC.
Chisora has hit plenty of boxers with the overhand right and they haven't gone down. I am not certain timber will fall. He'd probably need to hit Joyce quite a lot of times for that to happen.
Baluta vs McCann is a really good rematch. Hopefully some of the younger fighters are in decent scraps as well. Think Sean Noakes is fighting the 11-1 Southern Area Champion. So thats a step up
There goes Chisora's last remaining brain cells. Joyce isn't at his best anymore, but before the Zhang debacle he was considered a top-five contender. Chisora hasn't looked like a top-ten guy in ages.
Really pleased McCann vs Baluta 2 announced, the first was a war and a rematch is definitely needed but I feared it may be avoided. A few decent UK fights coming up in june/July across all 3 promoters, which is great to see as its felt like the UK has been a bit neglected this year
With the money they must be making in Saudi there’s no reason to pause investing in the UK scene. Clearly not the case for Boxxer, but at the same time Sky is getting PPV sales from the huge shows so that must make life a bit easier too. Sky just got Fury and Joshua on PPV without really having to lift a finger; maybe they’ll realise they don’t need their own house promoter any more or maybe they’ll go full tilt into women’s boxing as their niche instead…
I can't say this is a fight I'm interested in, and I really think Delboy should be retired. But I can see it being "fun" in the context of what it is. That said if the main event isn't starting by 10pm i won't be staying up to watch it. For TNT to have this and the Birmingham card in the same month as part of your sub is pretty solid though. Its a better offering than DAZN and you get everything else
It doesn't take much for something to be a better product than DAZN UK Even hardcore boxing fans are tired of the many DAZN PPVs.
