Oleksandr Usyk is not 6'3

I think they give Ali 6’2 1/2” - based on his passports. As to when that height was first recorded on his passport, I’m not I sure - sometimes height records are simply replicated.

Ali would’ve needed a passport for Rome 1960 - but, at 18, though many cease to grow at that stage, I suspect that he might not have reached his full height anyway.

 

I’ve stated previously that I believe Usyk is 6’2 - 6’2 1/2”.

Foreman was more like 6’3 1/2” - taller than Norton and Ali, and 1” on Ali, most notably as per the Zaire face off, imo.

However, lots of fighters fudge their heights - and comparing the height of one fighter to another can cause a leaning tower of Pisa in so far as building one flawed reference atop another.

Interesting that Celebheights give Liev Schreiber 6’2 1/4”.

Now Liev does appear to be a reasonably big and tall guy, taller than say Hugh Jackman.

However, Liev appears shorter than Olek when standing alongside Uysk - and not just by a mere 1/4” which would be barely discernible - so there you go...

 

Yeah, there’s no exact science for guessing heights. There’s footwear, deceiving angles, etc. to be getting on with.

Liev starred in the boxing movie Chuck (haven’t seen it myself). He apparently has Ukrainian ancestors up the line.

Face offs in the ring, both guys in boxing shoes, could tell the most accurate story.

Outside the ring, Wilder wore some heel while Fury often wore flat soles - sandals even? Sometimes Wilder could look equal or even taller. In the ring however, I’d give Fury at least a 1/2”, likely a bit more.

Ring face offs used to be filmed more squarely (Foreman vs Ali for a perfect example) , with both guys in frame - these days, they go for more artsy fartsy, “innovative” angles and often frame each fighter in isolation - useless. Lol.

Then his real height is in the government's official records, his ID and his passport.

BTW ... if according to the vote Usyk is somewhere between 6,1 and 6,3 .... then what is Fury's real height?

 

But unfortunately this is boxing and these sort of figures get thrown around all the time here.
Mike Tyson grows and Muhammad Ali shrinks on a monthly basis..

 

In a Johnny Carson show on YouTube with Ali and Clint Eastwood. For some forgettable reason, Carson asked their heights. Ali said 6’ 2”.

 

Ali visibly grew taller between the two Liston bouts imo.

I myself went from 5'9 to 6'1 1/2 at 18.

 

So did his passport apparently.

 

Usyk is factually bigger than Foreman was for a lot of his fights. Weight has not changed since the 1970s

 

Whether he was 6' 3'' or 6' 1'', it was always very misleading to say that he was as big as George Foreman, without any additional context.

Michael Moorer would be a much better analogy.

 

Does "celebs"measure them?

 

Height is not size, and size is not height.

The more relevant measurable in determining size is WEIGHT.

If height was the determinant, then Tommy Hearns would be bigger than Mike Tyson, and Paul Williams would have been bigger than Joe Frazier.


Prime George Foreman, for his four title fights, weighed....... 217.5........219.25......224.75.......220...........(average : 220.4 )

Usyk has had four HW Title fights and has weighed...............221.25......221.5.........221...........223.5........(average :221.8 )

This makes Usyk "George Foreman sized" or even very, very slightly bigger.


If you only go by celebheights data, Usyk is stated as 6' 2.5" and George is stated as 6' 3"
a half inch difference.

This makes Usyk "George Foreman sized" by height as well as weight.
