Literally every athlete gets death threats. This is not a secret. It’s like asking which boxers have arms and to provide proof
As Mel said Liston was beaten 12 prior to Marciano's last fight. It's not "opinion" that Marciano retired to avoid him, it's absolute TRASH. Peak for peak Liston would knock him out. Liston showed against Floyd how accurate and versatile he could be against crouchers not to mention plain devastating. Liston's a worse matchup than Ali or Holmes for him.
But he quit twice and cheated multiple times so yea he has no heart and going life and death with bum Marshall is not the good think to be said.
Again you douche, when I said that I wrote that? Is there any claim or you are just lying as always because you are angry kid having tantrums, like klompton said?
Marciano knew of Liston. Marciano was actually in attendance when Liston defeated Ed Sanders in the Golden Gloves and congratulated Liston on his victory and gave him words of encouragement. Here is a piece after Liston won the world title and Liston talking about meeting Marciano for the first time. Rocky Marciano, retired undefeated heavyweight champion congratulated the new champion and told writers: "He looks like a great one punch fighter." Among the many clergymen in the crowded dressing room were three who played an important role in his rehabilitation after his trouble with the law. They included Fr. Edward P. Murphy, S.J., of Denver, who wore an "I Like Sonny" button; Fr. A.J. Stephens, who was chaplain at the Missouri penitentiary and really launched Liston's boxing career; and Fr. John McGinn of Yuma, Colo., who with Father Murphy did much to counsel Liston during his stay in Denver in recent years. SONNY WAS surprisingly poised during his press conference. He said he always had his sights set on the world title, even during his Golden Gloves days. "When I was in Chicago once for the Golden Gloves, Rocky Marciano was the champ," said Liston. "I met Rocky after I beat Ed Sanders in the Golden Gloves Finals and he asked me if I ever thought I would be world champion. I told him 'I expect one day to fight for it and I hope to win it." https://imgur.com/jplDywL
Yeah he was so forced that he quit twice? He cheated against Ali,Machen, Folley...using something on his gloves so he could blind his opponents.
His first match he had major shoulder cartilage damage and couldn’t move. Second his family was at gun point. also about that ointment the allegation isnt that it was liston, if anything it was the mob/corner men
Hi Buddy. Don't think there is ever a case for putting the word " fear " and Marciano in the same sentence, as to why he retired, I have read many an article on that subject over the decades, and opinions vary from, he was tired of all the grind, given that all boxers have to train hard to succeed, Rocky almost had no peers in that department, alongside that his weight would ballon making the task even more adous, also his body was showing signs of wear and tear, back issues apparently, and by 56 his loathing of Al Weil knew no bounds, add to this by the time he retired he had amassed a small fortune ( by the standards of the era) and given that he was rumoured to be prudent with his money, he felt it was enough to see him out, what with TV work and endorsements, and what furrowed my brow the most over the years, was a piece that claimed that after watching Patterson beat Moore he told the various scribes that he was glad he was not sharing the ring with Floyd due to his vaunted speed of hand and foot ! Like I say, just what I have read. stay safe SL,and btw you have made a nice addition to the forum, keep it up, chat soon.
I asked you for 5 ,if they all boxers get them then it should be easy for you to provide them shouldnt it.
As Usyk has now proven, size doesn't matter at heavy and the myth of Liston as some giant dude for the times needs to be put into its proper context. Looking at the records Marciano is 49-0 and this leads me to believe that he would find a way.
