4 years of ring rust, how has he looked in his comeback in his last two fights. I know he is fighting sub par guys but he will be fighting Benevidez next? does he have any chance?

i think hes shot and david stops him. but thats based off of only 1 of those fights and i dont even remember which. some of those shots were telegraphed at him and he still couldnt move his head out the way. david is gonna porky medina him. maybe it was rust, maybe he had no respect for the guys punches, but i didnt like what i saw at all.

They're feeding him to Benavidez, in order to make Benavidez a bigger name in boxing.

Even Atlas said that Benavidez is making a mistake, fighting Gvodzyk right now.

I hope we can see a good fight, with a KO at the end.

He doesn't look the same if I'm honest, the moves are all there with the head movement and footwork still being good but he's definitely slowed, he no longer has the same speed he once had. Watching his recent fights compared to say his fight with Stevenson it's like the Stevenson fight was sped up.

But Benavidez is moving up and even this version of Gvozdyk maybe better than anyone he's faced so far, so it might be an interesting fight. Even if Gvozdyk loses he may ask some questions of Benavidez and expose some holes in his game.

I think everyone is sleeping on Gvozdyk. Im not saying he beats David but it wont be easy work either.

Here's a measuring stick if you need one. On the Lomachenko-Kambosos undercard, Imam Khataev, who is seen as the new divisional boogeyman, no opponent had made it out of round 3 against him. Bolotniks just took him 6 rounds before finally succumbing. Now, this was with Khataev throwing nothing but fastballs bringing relentless pressure, battering him with body shots all three minutes of every round, gunning for the stoppage with all his might. He finally got the stoppage but by bashing his kidney in. Gvozdyk put no effort whatsoever into the first 5 rounds against Bolotniks, seemed as if he was going through the motions just getting rounds in. Then like a machine, when he wanted to stoppage, he went out, turned it on like a man possessed and got it... basically tearing his face off in the 6th round as well, with the greatest of ease and with headshots.

Yes, even now Gvozdyk still can punch and has some skills too. And Benavidez already tasted the canvas in one of his previous fights and clearly isn't a defensively sound boxer. If Govzdyk comes motivated into this fight it will be interesting

Gvozdyk was the real deal. And as much as it pains me to say this, was giving a prime Beterbiev all he could handle for 8 rounds, until he was finally broken by body punches. He was right there with him for the whole fight until the abuse to the body became too much. I think Gvozdyk would have beaten Bivol before the layoff.

I thought he looked good; Bolotniks is an underrated fighter, and to blast him out is some statement. I seriously fancy his chances vs Benavidez.

I noticed something similar. It was as though Gvodzyk never left second gear until the final round or so.

I would feel very comfortable picking a prime Gvodzyk over Benavidez. The Ukrainian is a nasty boxer-puncher, and Benavidez certainly isn't difficult to find.

Yeah it was a pretty even fight iirc, where he had a lot of moments, but he just couldnt take the shots for 12 rounds.

Teddy? I like him but he gets **** wrong all of the time.

Benavidez is not making a mistake. He is taking a gamble for which the rewards will be huge. And if a 37 year old Gvozdyk is that big of a risk for Benavidez then whats the point for any of this? David wants to fight the best and to build a legacy. So if Gvozdyk is too much for him then he might as well retire.

*I think Gvozdyk has a good shot here, btw.

And if he wants to achieve the goals he has talked about then he has to be able to beat a 37 year old Gvozdyk.
