If my consciousness has to be collective with Mendoza's then I don't want to be conscious, lad. Flat out cabbageness all the way is fandabbydozy for me.

I will, but can I have my Coco pops and a double shot of Toilet Duck before I have to know what HOUDINI is thinking for the rest of my life?

You could make that argument, given some of the footage I've seen.

Tyson wasn`t a one punch KO artist, and threw vicious combo`s.

I'd agree that Locche is the best pure defensive fighter I've ever seen. Just ungodly reflexes and the ability to read an opponent's body language in the nanosecond prior to the delivery of a punch tied in to a mastery of every defensive technique, manoeuvre and position in the book. He fought like he genuinely enjoyed taking the **** out of opponents too, like making them miss and winding them up in front of his mental home crowd was the sole absolute reason for stepping into a ring rather than money, titles etc. That pure focus to the exclusion of all else sets him above even Pep, Pea, Benitez etc from just a defensive standpoint although they were more effective fighters overall. Same for Floyd although I wouldn't quite place him on the level of those lads as a defensive savant. A bit too minimalistic in his approach in comparison for my liking.

Locche did need the exactly right opponent to show off against though; a plodding neolithic clubber like Fuji. I'm dubious that he shut Cervantes out for 15 rounds in Argentina until that full fight rears it's head tbh.

He doesn't look that impressive defensively vs Carlos Hernandez or Antonio Ortiz. Mayweather was clearly better.

Locche`s head movement was better than Floyd`s when he fought Hernandez, he was getting underneath the shots very quickly, compare it with Floyd v Cotto where Floyd got hit more than usual, having said that Cotto picked his punches bete than Henandez.

Mostly stepping back in straight line and not raising his hands when opponent gets to mid-range.

What do we mean by better? He used more upper body movement in his defense..........less "catching" and parrying shots. But then, isn't one of the videos showcasing his defensive "prowess" a fight where he was knocked out?

I'd think that answers that particular question....................

Yes he was a very adept defensive specialist, better is hard to quantify because their defense wasn't even remotely similar.
