I remember hearing that when sparring head shots are discouraged so that fighters don't get too beaten up between fights.
    Anyone else hear this one?

As has been said already it works if the fighter in question is blessed with quickness and fast reactions and its definetley a young mans style ( although Johnny Nelson got away with it for a long time ! ) but many trainers "style" tends to suit a type of fighter. Cus D'amato trained a fighter to , for want of a better term , show no fear which didnt suit Floyd Patterson too well but when a young man named Mike Tyson walked through the door to the gym the style found its perfect exponent. Emmanuel Steward works best with tall rangy fighters , Naz was perfect for Ingle etc etc.

    Simple question for you all.
Scoring on the basis of 10pts for a World Champ, 7 points for a Euro, and 5 pts for a British Champ, how many points do you think this gym scores from 1987 to 2009 ?
Name me another gym that comes remotely close.

As Joe Gallagher said on Saturday: "No-one can touch the Ingles Gym"

    Certainly not in Britain

So many people chucking in a 2 penneth and clearly know absolutely co¢k all!
As if success in boxing is a 'fluke'!? Time and again.....over a few decades.....know it all clueless tw@ts.

Fair enough if you don't like the 'style' and would (in an imaginary fantasy land) train boxers differently but you can't knock the stats, people using Herol Graham's performance against Julian Jackson as a reason to knock the training methods! Fu¢king ridiculous! Might as well say Martinez's style is $hit because Chavez Jr got through in the 12th.

Since 1995, Hamed, Jones, Nelson and Brook have all won world titles after coming through the Ingle system as children. In addition, Witter became world champ after spending his entire professional career there.

We have a lot of people in here saying how utterly awful and against "the fundamentals" that the ingle style is, but plenty of ingle fighters have not only beaten, but outclassed good conventional fighters, so while it certainly isn't a flawless style, to say its not even as good as teaching basic fundamentals is quite clearly wrong. like has been pointed out, look at the record of the gym, you just cannot say that is all down to the ingles lucking out with having a lot of great fighters just HAPPEN to walk through the doors

The styles between Naz, Witter, Brook and Galahad differ, they may show some similarities like changing stances, but in the whole all have different styles. The Ingles train each fighter to their strengths and don't try and make them all carbon copies of each other.

Yeah they all differ slightly, but one thing all these fighters have in common which is the key to their success are very quick reactions. Naz, Witter, Brook and Galahad are or were very good at seeing their opponents punches before they are thrown. A fighter with average reactions say a Lee Purdy, Tommy Coyle etc would struggle with the Ingle style because they are not blessed with such talent. A successful Ingle fighter has to have natural reaction speed to be able to employ their boxing style....especially in the lighter weight classes.

Agree. Multi-flawed useless gym. Not had any success in years, all their best fighters have left, all were getting beat one by one. Where are Ingles fighters fighting now? low level fighters on non-televised tiny local shows- Exactly. Everyone in boxing has realised Dom is a shite coach by now.

Terrific trainer is Dominic Ingle and I thoroughly enjoy his videos with BoxingKingMedia on YouTube. The BoxingKingMedia guy, I warn, is a bit corny and hammy (and dare I say, unprofessional) but it's really the guests that make the videos and Ingle has the gift of the gab. Fascinating human being. And his father, well, what can be said about the great Brendan Ingle that hasn't been said already?
