First off, I am not bias. Yes i know my profile is about Liston but Mike is my second favorite boxer of all time and got me interested in the sport. I am impartial in my decision.

Both in their primes of course, Listons main weapon was his immensely destructive jab. This being the case, its hard to imagine Mike wouldn't try to slip this jab and begin swarming.
To me the main components are

A: Can mike slip Listons jab?
ehhh, probably not. It was by far the fastest and hardest jab ever and i cant imagine anyone slipping a prime Liston. It was his main weapon and was cause for many of his victories. Not even Floyd Patterson could do much against it and he was called "The Rabbit" by Muhammed Ali, one of the fastest fighters ever.

B: Can Mike do damage if he gets inside?
Certainly he could do some damage, but nothing close to a KO. In his prime (Imo 1995) he was around 5'10. While its not a massive height difference with Liston being about 6'1 Mike was infamous for performing weaker against taller opponents wether he admits it or not. He would need to continuously stack on these combos and getting inside against someone with arms as long as Listons is already tough, doubt he could do it twice let alone three times.

    C: Physical stats.
    Heres what i got
    1. Height:
      • Sonny Liston: 6'1" (185 cm)
      • Mike Tyson: 5'10" (178 cm)
    2. Weight:
      • Sonny Liston: Approximately 218 lbs (99 kg)
      • Mike Tyson: Approximately 220 lbs (100 kg)
    3. Handsize:
      • Sonny Liston: 15 inches (Liston's hand size was famously large)
      • Mike Tyson: Not well-documented but generally considered average for his size
    4. Reach:

      • Sonny Liston: 84 inches (213 cm)
      • Mike Tyson: 71 inches (180 cm)

Not looking great for Mr.Tyson... 13 inch reach difference, a few inches in hand size, 2 inches in height. But Mike does take weight which is a petty big factor, sadly it doesn't make up for the rest of his genetic shortcomings imo.

Call me bias but i believe iv given enough reasoning to give Liston the win, feel free to disagree and ill happily discuss.

I was gonna go for Liston but after this logic, I think I’m gonna have to change my pick.

You are a very cool poster, but with all due respect, this thread has been done over and over, all that ever happens is that other posters end up quarreling over the results. It happens as much as the Monzon vs Hagler and Tyson vs a peak Muhammad Ali, Yawn. I will joke about this, Sonny Liston comes down the street with his gang of merry men by the names of Blinky Palermo, Frankie Costello, all three meet Mike Tyson and his roughnecks of Mitch Green and Bone Hugger Smith. both sides rumble in the Bronx, ending up in a Bronx Tale. Ha Ha.

I pick Sonny, most everybody who comes into him gets stopped imo
But Tyson's hand speed will be a major hurdle for Liston to overcome.imo.
