I see no problem with LaStarza as a contender getting a shot. "Protected" That certainly makes him unique. His mother had zero to do with his upbringing. Moore knew when he was born as did his manager who had to get him his passports ready for when he fought over seas. Three fights before challenging Marciano, Lastarza waa floored and beaten by 14-9-2 light heavy journeyman Rocky Jones. Lastarza gave an interview to the Ring in which he admitted he and his manager Jimmy d 'Angelo decided not to risk fighting ranked contenders ,but to sit on their laurels and wait for a title shot. “They” is Archie, his family, his manager etc. his mother was a loser who abandoned him at birth. She and the father had nothing to do w his upbringing and only made appearances in his life after winning the title. To even bring them up is absurd.
