Usyk could take a political stand and drop all the belts except one and proclaim that belt as the true and only heavyweight crown. UFC have it right with one belt per division.
Also if you’re champion of one of the organisations then you aren’t ranked with the others in the top ten, the system is designed to keep them apart, multiple champions means multiple pay per view opportunities. It’s that simple boxing is the money game not the fight game.

This has been a shockingly good era in that respect. We have a virtual tournament in which the winners of Fury-Wilder and Usyk-Joshua fought each other to crown a champ. But yeah, when Usyk retires it will all fall apart.
