As far as Lewis goes, and he is prolly my top 5 fighters in the history. He had 2 loses in his very own prime. And his rematch against McCall was not rematch at all. This guy didn't want to be in the ring, and had mental problems at that time.
This wasn't a rematch and avenging a loss at all.

Also Lewis had Height/Reach advantages over both, and they were similar weight.

#1 Amateurs and Pros are completely different sports. You cannot use Amateurs accomplishments to rate someone's status as a pro.

#2 Unfortunately, or fortunately for Usyk the talent level at HW is so shallow that beating the top 10 HW would not make him a HW ATG top 10, let alone the GOAT.

That's fine, but the size of the division has naturally progressed. But in this era, if you can cut it at Heavyweight you would try your hand there, because that is where the money is. And we know how a few of the cruiserweights that Usyk faced did in the heavyweight division.

Hunter showed promise but couldn't get passed the older Povetkin.
Gasiev also showed promise but got handled with ease by Wallin.
Maybe Briedis could have done something but he stayed in the lighter division.

So I don't think we can really give toooo much credit for those wins. Holyfield in contrast had a stacked resume, was Undisputed, was 4 time heavyweight champion, fought nearly everyone win or lose.

Edit: sorry, the autocorrection typos were going to drive me mad

Can't be the atg by beating two guys who aren't even top 20.

It's actually an interesting concept this.

If someone says to me who's the greatest fighter ever, I have no qualms saying Usyk. None whatsoever.

I think his 8 year run from beating Glowacki to Fury is as good as anyone's.

But if someone said who's the greatest heavyweight ever I think I baulk at the thought of it being Usyk.

I mean his HW ledger can't really compare with the likes of Louis, Ali, Lewis, Foreman

But I'd favour him over them all.

    A conundrum indeed.

You can’t be the GOAT if no one knows who the **** you are.

He simply hasn’t had enough fights, period, to be the greatest. Amateur career doesn’t factor in.

People make a big deal of Jim Jeffries, but he didn’t have enough fights either.

Short answer: NO. Why? His fans spent too much time campaigning that guys who would become his best scalps were overrated. Can we reverse all that work now that they're an important part of his legacy?

I think this is a case of people overreacting and treating todays current events like the most important thing thats ever happened.

Hes got 6 fights at HW theres no getting around that in the GOAT discussion. Clearing the division doesn't do much for him tbh because hes already beaten the top 2 and the brevity of his resume is so extreme. Hes king of this era thats not being disputed.
