As much as I dislike Fairweather, I can't fault him for gaming and manipulating the boxing system.

We have seen way too many cases of exploited boxers who ended destroyed mental and physically and dirty poor.

Thus, if Mayweather was able to get away with a padded record, and became dirty rich and famous while cherrypicking and manipulating fights, more power to him.

I just wish he stopped with all that ridiculously trashtalking and the best ever nonsense. He is already retired. Finito.

Mayweather could have moved up higher in weight I guess but beyond that I never saw the substance in the claims he carefully matched to stay undefeated. For much of the latter part of his career he was fighting naturally bigger, younger guys. If your trying to stay undefeated that's not a great strategy.

Pacquiao 2015 and Alvarez 2013 were still challenging opponents, plenty of easier fights he could have taken.

No, he is definitely not smart, bringing up Spinks-Ali to define Muhammad. If somebody on this board did that.. well.. they'd get run out of the place.

He's bold, but he's not smart.

Ali was past his best for the Spinks fight, and Floyd should know that. The question is WHY.

When Mayweather was 36, he completely dominated an all-time great. When Ali was 36, he lost to a fighter with seven fights.

Mayweather limited the amount of damage he took over the course of his career, and it paid dividends by allowing him to fight at or near his prime into his mid/late 30s. That's Floyd's point.

in terms of using the sport to make a ton of money, while protecting himself from the damage that can occur, yeah, he IS the best ever. Hands down.

that’s not how I rank fighters, but if that’s the scale being used, ok, he’s got it locked.
