There's been a lot of discussion recently about the ordering of the top 3 slots on P4P lists but I wanna draw your attention to one of the unsung heroes of the sport in the MW king and Kazakh technician Janibek Alimkhanuly. Janibek has been ducked by a lot of big names at 160, he was ducked by Andrade, Munguia, and the PBC guys like Jermall, Erislandy, and Adames have wanted nothing to do with him. Why's he being ducked so relentlessly though? Because he's one of the best fighters in the sport, that's why. With the fighters he has been able to get in front of him, he has performed to a very high level and has shown a beautiful array of skills and one of the best feint games, jabs, and footwork in the sport. So, does he deserve a spot on P4P lists in spite of his shallow resume?
Not even close. He needs to clear out the division first before he can be in the P4P discussion. Being ducked doesn't do anything for him.
Agreed - he passes the eye-test but needs a better level of comp. He might have to do what GGG didn't until it was too late and move up to 168 sooner than later - 160 is a wasteland right now.
Okay, okay, I heed to the better judgement of the forum, Janibek isn't quite P4P... yet. I'm still a very big fan of him and think he'll prove his mettle with the right opponents in front of him, but, as of right now, he unfortunately falls just short.
Janibek resume is trash and he’s a weight bully look at the size of him in there. But then again Crawfords whose supposedly p4p top 4, also has a trash resume. P4P rankings do not take into account context. Crawfords best wins at 147lbs: -drained, inactive, shell of himself Spence -shot, drained Kell Brook first fight without long time trainer Ingle. -shot Khan -part time commentator Porter who retired after the fight. Also was winning until his Dad saved the Spence fight for the money by unnecessarily throwing in the towel. Probably bribed If you just go by the names, which most here do by the sounds of it, Crawford has an amazing resume. But when you actually look at the state of his opponents, Crawford hasn’t really fought anyone at 147lbs that is actually healthy and not compromised In summary, P4P rankings are a load of bullocks
