Fury looked good for about 7 rounds. I haven’t re-watched the fight or watched any film breakdown. I’m not sure what Usyk did to turn the tables, but he adjusted and nearly knocked fury out and dominated the back half of the fight

I could see the thought process of going with what fury did in the first half and thinking well if he didn’t clown as much, and if he put his shots together more and pressed his advantage, maybe he would win. I don’t think that’s the case I feel like Usyk Saw what he needed to see and knows how to get to the larger fury. The fight will probably still be competitive for four or five rounds while fury is still fresh, but I got a feeling that Usyk Will pour it on much sooner, and knowing that he could have fury on the brink of being knocked out, will have the confidence to attack

Yes, just as it is a big confidence boost for Usyk, it's the very opposite for Fury that he turned the fight in his favour and gave Usyk his best, only for Usyk to come back, almost sweeping the remaining rounds (on a decent card, he did) and coming very close to stopping Fury in the process.

Must be very hard to find a way to convince yourself that you can do it much better. What could help is that it was a split decision and that he only needed to win another round to clinch it. So can he get judging like that a second time it is hard to rule him out. That's what he got going for himself.

Had the cards been in the 9-3 to 7-5 range with an extra point for the KD, as they should have been, then it would probably have seemed hopeless. But with those terrible cards, it's a bit different.

I think he might try it, though. Since this way didn't work, a different approach might well seem like the best one.

But I agree with you. Fury had his best rounds when he was leading Usyk onto that uppercut, but he needs Usyk to come at him to do that. You rarely land uppercuts on someone moving away from you. If he's bigger and more aggressive, he will likely get countered more and tire faster. Don't think it will work out well, but I can see the need to try something different.

i think usyk was giving him those shots at that time. he wasnt weaving, or creating angles, he was giving fury shots he thought he could catch on his arms, letting fury burn fuel. credit to fury for switching the angle and distance of some of those free shots in order to find holes. but usyk wont give him a static pick a boo defense unless he wants fury letting his hands go.

If Fury gets Usyk on the backfoot whilst keeping it at range, (which he did at points and he was dominating when he fought this way) he will beat Usyk, when Fury moved back, Usyk was able to close off the ring and land punches because Fury had nowhere to go, if Fury gets on the front foot behind the jab, he can see and will have enough space to move out of the way of Usyk's punches and counter with power punches to keep him moving back.

Good that your respectful, though you were always respectful.
One of the few Fury fans that is like that. I applaud that.
But Fury will never ever fight AJ. You can quote me on that. He needed 2 years to try to age Usyk out, and everyone who is not biased knows this. Me and few other peoples like Jennifer Love Hewit(or smth. like this) literally was telling everyone the future and what Fury will do, every single step of his. Either wait for Usyk to lose or to age him out, until he finally decide to fight him, when the time best suits Fury.

As far as AJ he is absolutely not in decline, actually in his prime now. Maybe for a year and one more, and then he will start declining.
But at least he had power that can carry him.

Fury had his size, reach and height. Usyk has none of that, and all his main attributes he relies on are all age related, and the first ones to go.

And to be fair i don't wanna see rematch, as i'm tired of all this British and USA fighters privilege of having to beat them twice in order to goes through them. And all they need is to win once, even a blatant robbery, and they won't ever dare to rematch u.

Also i'm even more disgusted by Fury and his team now. Frank Warren is trying so hard and tries to lie to everyone how this was a close fight that could have gone either way, its getting embarrassment, when literally the 99% of the British media had Usyk winning and most quite widely as well.

Fury normally finds a decent 2nd wind but Usyk's 8 & 9 made it very hard to do that. I think he nabbed 12 though.

Both were very cautious and very tired in round 12 and Fury just edged it with his length.

Make it a 15 rounder next time!

Furys last fight with wallin his dad went mental about how light he was and the fact he was overtrained.

I think it's fair to say the same thing happened here whether the camp will admit to it or not and that was with his dad pushing him in camp to do more.

Maybe he was overtrained, weak and too light, he certainly wasn't himself all week up to the fight.

As for what he could do, for me his corner needs sorting and his dad binning off (he performed better when his dad couldn't travel with him).

In the fight he needs to control the distance better, switch hit (which we didn't see) and use his size/weight. He had no plan b either it was the same shot (which was working) instead of switching it up.

It's easy to say though. Uysk was exceptional though he was blowing out of his arse till in the 8th and that shot gave him confidence.

There was a degree of arrogance about Fury that wont exist second time out

Actually, I would be surprised if Fury were to change his approach as much as Joshua did in the rematch. I still maintain that despite the loss, it was Joshuas best technical showcases. He boxed really well that night.

I think Usyk has Fury figured out and he managed to do so in 6 rounds. Usyk took away Fury´s lead hand and from that point forwards it was pretty much all Usyk.

Fury is likely to change his approach and try to expand on the success he was having mid rounds. Not sure if he can maintain that over the 12 rounds, so he's likely to be far more aggressive early. Whether or not this will work remains to be seen.

I reckon Usyk should just retire. Achieved what he wanted. Gold medalist, undisputed x2. At 37 years old what more is there to do?

That’s an interesting take in so far as Usyk giving Fury those shots.

I actually put it down to Usyk literally want to go to war - he started relatively fast and had that extra plant and steam on his very well selected punches, imo.

I thought he fatigued a bit and/or endeavoured to take a breather after round 4 which opened up some opportunities for Fury...but he still took the shots well and his second wind/rejuvenation was always going to come...

BUT, your perspective is just as possible. We know that Usyk was barely practicing any leg, body or head evasion during those rounds.

No missed opportunities for Fury, he got to wail on that body - it didn’t break as Fury might’ve hope - it clearly wasn’t/isn’t made of glass - Fury naturally tired from his own exertions - and then it was Usyk who came on again....
