One of the best HWs to not get a title shot during one of the easiest eras to get title shots. Top 20-30 HW from the 80s. Probably better than some guys who did get shots and might have gotten one if he had avoided Tyson and went on a streak. Off the top of my head the only better 80s HW who didn't fight for a world title would be Mercado. He fought Berbick for the USBA title at a time when the NABF and USBA were the 3rd and 4th most prestigious titles in boxing not the IBF and WBO. Green lost that fight 8-4 and Berbick went on to beat Pinklon Thomas for the IBF belt 2 fights later.
