So he said. He may or may not have had the flu, all we know for sure is that it was a poor fight early in which Weaver did much better than expected.

You keep saying "Snipes landed one punch" like that excuses it. He was brutally knocked down by a guy that was neither particularly skilled or comparatively hard-hitting. That's a bad night, especially considering that, as we pointed out, the Holmes record is not really all that deep.

At the end of the day, Holmes best wins were an aging Norton on a close one, an aging Shavers in two, one of which had a life and death moment, an inconsistent Witherspoon, Cooney, which didn't age well, Berbick, who is solid by unspectacular, and the combeback fight against Mercer, a guy who was beaten by Ferguson and went life and death with Ossie Occosio. Those wins simply do not add up to someone who is the head-to-head bogey man that he is made out to be these days.

    They just don't.

What is more, they add context to Snipes, Weaver, Williams, the loss to a LHW, the destruction by Tyson...

Holmes was a good fighter, but Usyk has already done something he never did- he was undisputed. Holmes split titles up by running away from fighting Page.

Are you confusing me with someone else you’re arguing with? All I did was explain what might’ve transpired against Mike Weaver and what did happen against Renaldo Snipes.
I don’t believe I’ve even stated my opinion on Usyk yet nor much else you’re directing at me.

Good to see people waking up to the old, “Holmes is so under-rated” myth.

Sure, sorry for that breach of etiquette. I stand by everything else I have said about Holmes soft resume and tough fights against lesser opponents.

Well I feel the same. Also, I respect Holmes, just at a top 7-10 guy and not a #3 guy like most people have him these days.

Holmes has a soft resume but Fury’s is much softer. Holmes is more proven and I think he will beat Fury to the punch more often than not. Holmes by decision

As overrated as any of them for me, and gets his pound for pound due too (rightly).

Shavers hit harder than Fury, Larry`s chin was far better than any fighter Fury has ever knocked out.

Page was nowhere near Larry or Usyk`s level, Larry peaked around 1982 and would have destroyed Page if he fought him after the Leon Spinks fight, Larry started to decline a bit each year after that.

I keep seeing that straight left hand Usyk landed on Fury in round 9. Larry's straight right hand was a laser. How on earth does Fury not get hit by that laser guided missile? Holmes by KO surely

If this were so then Holmes would have fought him.

Page as inconsistent like Witherspoon, but he had great talent, and everyone knew it.
