Would be one helluva brawl, I'd take the Bronx Bull though. If LaMotta could stand up to SRR's power six times without tasting the canvas then I think he could handle Zale. The Man of Steel couldn't handle Graziano's power as well though, and they're roughly equivalent in terms of punching power I think. I tend to think LaMotta is usually a bit overrated but I favour him here, his chin was sturdier and his power was better. LaMotta could be outboxed but was seldom ever outfought, and Zale only knows how to do the latter from what I've seen of him.
Ooh that would be an ugly fight. I don’t mean that in a negative way, like it wouldn’t be a good fight. It would be ugly because it would be a friggin’ PRIMAL fight. Jake but it’s a very uncomfortable pick. Zale was one tough mutha …
Lol LaMotta has become overrated throughout the years because of people who watched Raging Bull. Lamotta was never as good as the movie made him out to be. You will say but he beat Robinson. You mean the guy the guy he was 30 pounds heavier than? Lamotta should have more losses in his career but he doesn't because of his mob connections.
This would be a rugged, brutal fight. Zale is a man whom I don't believe LaMotta would out-tough. Zale had more power and Jake's style would be exactly what Zale needs to land his shots. I have Zale winning this one by a 10-5 decision. That being said, I can see the fight at five rounds apiece through the first ten with Zale's power wearing Jake down over the final third of the fight.
Zale was a better boxer and had a knockout punch in both mitts. LaMotta's style was made perfect for Zale. Jake would be lucky if he made it to the 7th rd. I would win bet, Zale wins by Knockout.
In which fights did Lamotta's"mob connections ,get him the win? Lamotta was ranked 6 in 42,1 in43, 2 in 44, 3 in 45 ,1 in 46, 5th in 47, 3 in 48,he finally got his chance and won the title in June 49,it sure took a while for those"mob connections," to pay off!
The only middle to stop Jake was Robinson ,Lamotta was weight drained and finished on his feet.Maybe Zale beats him but he isn't stopping him imo.
Good shout out here, McVey. I don't think LaMotta's connection to the mob was a happy one. I think you can point to his loss to Billy Fox as connected to the mob, but I don't think you can point to any fight he won as being a result of the mob fixing the outcome The mob may have landed him the fight with Cerdan as a quid pro quo for losing the Billy Fox fight, but I don't think the mob dictated the outcome of the Cerdan fight or any of LaMotta's other fights. I think Klompton's prior posts on LaMotta's troubles with the mob are as close as we are going to get to the LaMotta-mob connection.
