It isn't the issue. The issue is that Holmes abandoned a belt rather than fight him. He accepted a belt out of the gutter instead, and contributed to the alphabet mess we have today. Extremely shameful. No, we won't be awarding a win to Holmes on a fight that he blatantly ducked.
Tyson was better than Douglas but struggled with his 81 inch reach, Holmes had a 81 reach too and took full advantage of that with a great jab, Page was nowhere near as skilled as Tyson.
When the fight was being lined up Holmes had started his decline. It was a case of someone being in the right place at the right time. Witherspoon almost was and a couple of the top 5 heavyweights would have been a reasonable chance of a minor upset on a good night.
Lol, I've just seen this. Didn't know you thought about me this much, how creepy. Also you know that Muhammad Ali also struggled in an exhibition match with an MMA fighter right? He was getting kicked but still a younger version of Ali struggled in the ring with a considerably worse MMArtist than Ngannou. You know that Floyd Patterson got knocked down by a fighter making their professional debut? People underestimate their opponents and underperforms, it happens. Especially fat undisciplined slops like Fury. Again I don't know why context / Tyson Fury upsets you so much. As much as roasting the **** out of Fury is fun, there's a time to put one's sensible hat on and talk about things properly, instead of saying "Fury was **** vs Ngannou therefore Prime Fury loses literally every single hypothetical match-up possible, including to Sam Langford and Jack Dempsey"
Ali vs Inouki was not an actual boxing match though Inoki was laying on the floor kicking Ali. So that's totally irrelevant in regards to Fury struggling against Ngannou in an actual boxing match Ali also had gloves on and Inoki didn't. Yes Patterson got dropped by a fighter making his debut but atleast he was an Olympic Gold Medalist and Patterson soon dominated him after. Fury was dropped by Ngannou and couldn't ever really get the upper hand or dominate against a novice in a boxing match labouring to a controversial points win which is far worse.
It wasn`t a boxing match and Francis was a UFC champ not some half-arsed wrestler laying on his back kicking his feet, Inoki was not a proven combat sportsman, Japanese wrestling is scripted, it`s just a lot stiffer than the WWE, Inoki was never a combat sports champ, he was just a sports entertainer that could kick hard, like Hulk Hogan if he had taken a few karate lessons.
An olympic gold medalist should be bette with his fists than a heavyweight MMA fighter who rarely went past the 1st or second round, do you really think Francis could have have won a gold medal boxing in an olympic games?
Lads, I don't really care about Ngannou or Inoki or Rademacher. I'm just saying that it's stupid to use a fighters LOWEST moments for PRIME matchups and then smugly act like you're a genius who's actually just made a very very intelligent point and not just intellectually dishonest. It's one thing to use low points as a basis for a critique, another thing entirely to use them as an argument unto themselves. People here do this all the time and it serves no other purpose to reduce the quality of discussion. I'll put them in my ignore list but then sometimes entire threads will just disappear because most of the discussion is just people on my ignore list stupid **** like: Wlad loses to Patterson because he lost to Purrity and Brewster. Lewis loses to Dempsey because he lost to McCall and Rahman. AJ loses to Fitzsimmons because he lost to Ruiz. Mike Tyson loses to Marciano because he lost to Buster Douglas. Fury loses to Sam Langford because he got floored by Ngannou. There are 12 billion Marciano threads that don't need to exist that are all 20+ pages long because of this sort of dumbass logic.
I understand but the issue with Fury for example hes shown too many examples of being beatable against lesser opposition and he hasn't got the resume to back it up. Like people talk about Fury being out of shape vs Ngannou which he was but he weighed the same as he did vs Wilder in their 3rd fight. And people still gave Wilder alot or credit for his showing but the Ngannou's performance is just put down to Fury being out of shape which is a bit contradicting IMO. So either Wilder isn't that good and doesn't deserve credit for his performance vs Fury, or we should give Ngannou more credit for his performance vs Fury it's either one or the other. I'm not saying you are necessarily saying that but you get my point.
