at 147 - watch him destroy pipino cuevas at 154 - watch him take out hanos de padre himself at 160 - watch round 1 against hagler at 175 - watch him destroy the super tough super strong dennis andries. His right hand was like a missile and he could dig to the body with a left hand that folded Barkley in half before he throw his home run - as for his left jab , well ive never seen a better jab at 147 maybe only Ike Quartey could live with Tommy jab for jab . just a few things thats so great about the motor city cobra
watch as many videos of hearns as you can. dont worry about the record against big fighters. just pay attention to the boxing.
Tommy was a great fighter. One of the hardest p4p punchers of his era if not the hardest,he had great boxing skills as well.A class act throughout his career,he also had the heart of a lion and won titles in multiple weight classes.Plus many thought he won the Leonard rematch which was declared a draw.Anyone that claims to be a boxing fan and doesn't realize what a terrific fighter he was ought to stop watching the sport.
Exactly. See what happend, i gave u a stat (i.e hard fact) and u put it into context. If you solely relied on boxrec, then you're unable to put the wins/loses into context. Boxrec tells us SRL tko Hearns in round 14; context tells us Hearns was winning the fight up until then and this proved to be one of SRL toughest fights.
If you do not know the era or watch the fights and get info from boxrec. any fighter will look not as great as people say. Tommy beat greats and fought them all. His two biggest fights he lost, which hurts him unfairly I think. His wins against greats and hall of fame fighters is so good you cannot find many with that kind of resume. Ranking fighters ATG is hard to do and I am too partial to Hearns, and I might overrate him. but he did fight them all and made his era much better, which is a great era. Cuevas,Duran,Benitez,Leonard,Hagler, Hearns all great fighters and Hearns fought them all including Virgil Hill. I would say go to youtube and watch the fights. Boxrec is good, but doesn't tell the story. Part of the reason I say Pacman should fight Mosley is because a great name on his resume does help his ranking. Even if you lose in a fight to an ATG, just to be in that club with the greats is special. The names last forever. Even if people do not agree with how great someone is, most people still agree who is great and who is, they just disagree with the ranking. Boxrec does not have astericks to say who is great or not. I will say this boxrec is accurate and a great site for information on paper.
Some goats beat him but they had to "walk through the valley of death" to get there. Took on anyone. Most entertaining fighter I have ever seen. Legend.
first fighter to win four championships in four different weight classes one of the best right hand ever in the history of boxing never outbox one of the most exciting fighters ever there you go.
