One other thing to note:- IMO the only thing that Fury has over AJ is that - officially - he has only been beaten by Usyk, whereas AJ has the Ruiz blip. But... 1) Joshua avenged the Ruiz defeat with a shutout 2) Fury is arguably fortunate not to have losses to McDermott, Wilder (that count) and Ngannou on his record. Joshua's resume is objectively deeper and he has not had multiple retirements and been popped for PEDs. Parker's shutout of Wilder really takes a bit of the lustre from Fury's trilogy there also, as it gives weight to many who have said that Fury was calculated with the Wilder trilogy to avoid Joshua, given Wilder is obviously the lesser fighter when it comes to fundamentals. That said, right now they are fighting over Usyk's scraps regardless of how you slice it... Fury : To-mah-to Joshua: To-may-to That's one of the reasons why I'd rather see Fury vs Joshua than Fury v Usyk rematch personally, as it would put it to bed.
They should fight each other to see who's the best. Comparing résumés is pointless whilst they have every possibility of fighting each other for real.
1. Beat Wlad on away soil when he was a super champion undefeated in over a decade 2. The dosser, though limited age does matter. If usyk gets destroyed in the next 2 or 3 years will you say it wasn't due to age. Wilder had been violently knocked out by Fury and the trilogy took a lot from him, as would any fighter. 3. Joshua did ruiz, but he was also smashed to pieces by him 4. Against elite competition, Fury performed better, but I concede Aj is king of can crushing and destroyed the guys Fury struggled with 5. Ajs resume is a little more stacked, but Fury still has the better top wins and for now, I would give him the edge 6. Although I don't favour him, let's see how he does in the rematch. Aj had 2 tries so Fury should have the same
Fury has faced only 4 legit top 10 contenders. Joshua has faced 7, or 8 if you want to be generous. Also beat Whye before Whyte was world ranked.
We've disagreed plenty lately, so what's one more? At the same time, stank out a tactical win - not without it's merits, but Wlad did seem off (which would've been understandable given his personal issues at the time). The other point about who did better against Wlad comes down to how the three men felt afterwards. Wlad wanted to rematch Fury. Fury wanted no part. Joshua was willing to rematch Wlad. Wlad decided against it. This suggests that Fury suspected it'd be much harder the second time and wasn't confident he'd win... Whilst Joshua, despite having actually had to feel Wlads power (and being knocked down) was confident he'd do as well again. Yes Wlad was older, but it's certainly interesting. In all seriousness, there are probably better arguments for Joshua overall - to argue for Fury you have to lean heavily on their respective Wlad wins and Usyk losses... Because no way does Deontay the can crusher get close to equalling Parker & Povetkin, and the loss to Ruiz doesn't look nearly as bad as the lucky escapes against 0-0 Ngannou, or Wallin.
Usyk is only 3 months younger than Wilder. The loss to Parker was 6 months ago... Ie: Wilder was actually 3 months younger in the ring against Parker than Usyk is right now - Usyk in "2 or 3 years" will be more than 2-3 years older than Wilder was in that fight. Or in other words, the "age" excuse would be fairer for Usyk then than it would for Wilder now... Especially considering Usyks been in with more serious (and often dangerous) fighters than Wilder by a long, long way: set Fury aside and Joshua, Briedas, Gassiev, Huck, Bellew are levels beyond the guys Wilder spent his career fighting before Parker - Usyk has far more excuse for being shopworn.
I disagree some of Fury's wins have aged poorly. Parker just beat Wilder 12-0 and Parker has much better resume than Wilder hence I rate Parker above Wilder. Fury went life and death with Wallin Joshua destroyed him. Whyte was considerably past it vs Fury having alot of miles on clock already being KO'ed twice brutally. Yes Joshua beat a greener version of Whyte but he was certainly more fresher that's for sure. Wladimir was inactive vs Joshua yes but that was because Fury gave him the round around not rematching him. Whilst Fury has the better achievement taking Wladimir's belts from him it was a poor fightand Wladimir lacked any fire in his belly. Yes Joshua did have more trouble vs Wladimir but he did stop him unlike Fury plus Wladimir fought with alot more passion. Joshua has alot more filler to his record than Fury..... Povetkin Wladimir Parker Ruiz Wallin Whyte Breazele Pulev Takam Compared to Fury's resume.... Wladimir Wilder x2 Chisora x2 Whyte Wallin Cunningham Joshua has also beaten 4 Heavyweights who were ranked in the top 10 compared to 3 for Fury.
AJ beat and stopped a motivated 40 year old Klitschko and Fury beat a 38/39 year old Klitschko on points. AJ beat a better version. I don’t remember Usyk flooring AJ like he did Fury or getting a standing 8 count. AJ knocked am undefeated Whyte whereas Fury stopped a Whyte who had been stopped a few times and gone through several wars. You are just a deluded Fury. Wilder’s boxing fundamentals are poor. Anybody who knows what they are doing can beat Wilder
