No point, Catterall has won 2/2 conclusively and proven he’s the better boxer at this stage of their careers and really needs to be allowed the same opportunities Taylor was afforded earlier in his career.

Yeah, I have no interest whatsoever in a third fight. Catt is up 2-0 on Josh.

Rather see Catt face Fimo or Haney.

As for Josh? He might wanna consider hanging them up, in all honesty. He's no longer a top fighter. Tonight proved that.

The right man won but it definitely wasn't 117-111.

Trilogy needs to happen. At a higher weight.

    Catch-weight, around 143-144?

Or, just go up to welterweight at 147 and be done with it?

I agree, I think Catterall won the first fight too, but, officially, it's one apiece.

If they think there's money to be made then it'll probably happen.

Where would you put Catterall in the conversation amongst the 140 lb division?

Is he genuine top level, or does beating a (clearly?) faded Taylor not count for much?

Taylor lost to Lopez, so how do you think Jack would dare against the American?

He was never anything special or P4P. Made a career out of being the bigger man in an extremely weak division.

I doubt there is any money in a trilogy mainly due to the condition of Josh Taylor.

Everyone can see Josh is shot to bits, and he has lost both fights.

Wilder Fury 3 was made even though Fury won the first 2 because both men were still live dogs.

Josh Taylor is shot and Catterall is probably not even world level.

If a third fight does get made. Then Josh spends another year out the ring, comes in rusty as, and loses another decision even worse than this time.

I wouldn't be opposed to a rematch as technically they are 1-1 and given how Taylor finished strongly and fought a better fight in this 2nd fight, I don't by the excuses that he's drained at 140 or that he's shot. Maybe he's past his best but quite frankly he would have always lost to Lopez and Catterall, two excellent counter punchers who exposed holes in his style that always existed, he's never had to deal with a good boxer from range as guys like Pograis stood right in front of him and allowed him to fight his type of fight.

Fact is Taylor was never that good, 140 was a wasteland which is why Haney came up and schooled the number 2 guy in Pograis and why Lopez schooled Taylor, the gulf between 135 and 140 in quality and depth is huge and that benefited Taylor and allowed him to be undisputed. But their supporters will say Taylor and Pograis are past their best, funny that how they both become shot overnight against their best opponents to date, very convenient that. I hate this trend for every fighter losing now suddenly being past their best, Wilder, Zhang, Fury, Pograis, Taylor etc perhaps they simply stepped up and got found out.

But I think Catterall needs to move on from Taylor and look to fight Lopez. Those titles should be his, time to try and claim what should rightfully be his. Won't be easy but we know Lopez doesn't like counter punchers and will struggle with Catterall's style.

Ummmm... most people were saying going into the Haney-Prograis fight that Regis was badly faded, and that's why Haney would win. It wasn't said retrospectively.

Look at any fights of Prograis circa 2016-2019, then look at the Prograis that fought Haney. It's clear as day that Regis is badly declined.

However, I do agree with you that Josh and Regis were never special.

Josh might go down as the worst guy to ever appear on a P4P top 10 list.

Josh Taylor never wins a belt if he's at 140 15 years ago. He certainly doesn't win a belt if he's around back when 140 had a prime Tszyu and Judah.

Catterall is boring to watch and will NEVER attract big purses and/or offers to fight in the states imo

Agree with this. Also the fights he had after losing the fight he won against Josh Taylor the first time around, just proves he is not likely to ever to be getting those world title fights or win fights at world level. Foley and Linares are hardly top level 140 guys.

He has a bad performance against Zorilla who fought a negative fight so he wasn't going in to the Haney fight looking great but nobody in the prediction thread or the face off thread before the Haney fight were saying he looked shot or had declined badly, show me these people who were saying he had declined because nobody said so in either of these threads before the fight. Plenty of people were picking Prograis before the fight too in the RBR thread.

Look at the Prograis/Zorrilla RBR thread, not a single person saying Prograis looked shot or declined after that fight. Simply that it was a bad style match up for Prograis or that Prograis was never that good to begin with.

Easy to look good when your facing average opposition 140 is a weak ass division which is why 2 light weights moved up and schooled both Taylor and Prograis. But of course their fans will spin it saying they were drained at the weight or over the hill. Funny that, nobody said this when they were undefeated, many picked them to beat Lopez and Haney but suddenly after they lose the spin doctors start creating a false narrative and start reinventing history.
