Two undisputed 140 champs who came pretty much one after the other. Bud beat Thomas Dulorme, Dierry Jean, Hank Lundy, Viktor Postol, John Molina, and Julius Indongo at 140. Not quite a murderer's row. Josh Taylor has spent his whole career at the weight but his notable wins are Ohara Davies, Miguel Vazquez, Viktor Postol, Ryan Martin, Ivan Baranchyk, Regis Prograis, Apinun Khongsong, Jose Ramirez, and Jack Catterall (kinda). So, whose division was worse?
Crawford shut out a prime Postol without stepping out of first gear. Josh could barely scrape by a washed up Postol.
Crawford is the much better fighter H2H and deserves his praise. But I think Josh has the better 140 resume. Josh ruled over a weak 140 division. Crawford ruled over a truly shitty division.
Yes, but it's not something you can blame Bud for. It's not like he avoided the division's top guy. The division's top guy at the time WAS Postol. And Bud washed him. Josh's resume won't be remembered too fondly. Regis and Ramirez are far from great fighters.
I agree with all of this 100%. The thread is about who ruled over a worse division and Crawford ruled over a worse division.
Postol and Indongo were favored by a bunch of people on this forum to "expose" ( I ****ing despise that expression in this context). Taylor's best win (Prograis) was a gift. Finally, I don't think there's much case to be made that any Crawford we've yet seen wouldn't utterly demolish Taylor at whatever apex of himself could be conjured up. I don't know why folks want to tear down Terence Crawford so much. I suspect it's because of his nationality, but ... who knows?
So he went from being prime to being washed up in the space of the Najmiddinov fight? LMAO.. Postol was never anything special.. it's just Crawford fans know his resume is absolute dog s*** so try and make out his opponents were more than they actually were. Taylor decisively beat Postol & i highly doubt he got washed up in less than two years (2018) .. in fact in 2020 he pushed JCR to the brink.. hes washed NOW tho
Crawford's division was weaker of course. He'd beat Taylor sure, but that's not what the thread question is.
140lbs has usually been a weak division since I've been watching boxing. Look how crap the likes of Devon Alexander Julius Indongo, Lamont Peterson, Amir Khan careers went after they were somehow 'unified' champs at 140.
