OK so if Cooney had been put in with guys a little more dangerous than old Ken Norton? Would fighting these at the time have jeopardised his title shot doyou think? Leon Spinks James Tillis Tex Cobb Renaldo Snipes All 10 rounds, can Cooney beat em all?
A really motivated Tillis might pose problems but he wins the lot. Leon round one. Cobb UD. Tillis late stoppage or close UD. Snipes UD.
Having seen what happened to him when he got clipped on the chin, I have little faith in him against a good puncher with fast hands such as Tillis. Even Cobb with his strength and toughness might trouble him. I doubt Gerry would run the table. He was too vulnerable defensively and erratic in his personal life.
I’d favor Cooney to beat all those men at that time. Gerry had not yet fallen victim to inactivity nor had his confidence been destroyed yet by the beating he took from Holmes. Cobb and Snipes might prove tough customers but I think he’d beat them too
