From the Top Rank channel vault. I know most people aren’t too fond of Hopkins but his work ethic and boxing fundamentals are something to admire. He really has great technique and footwork, especially for someone that isn’t known for having the incredible speed or power.

When he was in prison, you can tell he was going to go on to become an ATG pro once he left.

I like BHop well enough. Some of his antics pissed me off, but it's hard not to admire him. This is a man of far greater character many of his peers. Bat**** crazy from time to time or not.

Do prison's today still have Boxing programs like this? Seems like it'd be good for rehabilitation. Sonny Liston started boxing in prison too I believe.

Great technique, what made me want to follow him as a fighter was simply a clip of him training and throwing what I can only describe as a flawless left hook and thinking damn this Hopkins bloke might be worth keeping an eye on. His footwork too was great, never off balance yet able to be very mobile at the same time.

If he was all PED´s we would see many more like him.
When was the last time someone had continued success in their 40s?

Most people? Really? I mean I know he has some haters with what he said about not losing to a white boy, but I thought he was fairly universally appreciated.

I like him calling fights, too. Especially the way he says “body blows”.

Hopkins was a slippery Wily old fox even when he was young.

His reading of a fighter in front of him was excellent.

    Weird hand wrapping.

At least in the gyms I've been it is not very normal to train using tape in your hand wraps ("hard hand wraps" we call it, I dont know in english). People usually use only the gauze with no tape ("soft hand wraps" we call it, I don't now in english) and the "hard hand wraps" are only used in fights (maybe in exceptional situations too, maybe).

Even it is not a normal tape+gauze hand wraps, it looks like he is using extra protection in the knuckles. Had Hopkins ever had problems with his hands? It never looked like so.
